Trans pan? yes or no? ATS Thermal block?

Just got "newer to me" 2016 Ram 2500 with 68RFE
Looking for input on installing deep trans pan and ATS thermal block bypass.
If any out there ( im sure there are ) please let me know what pan to get? Also how / is / filter relocated if at all? deeper pan is good but im unsure if pickup needs to be lowered to pick up fluid OEM level

I would purchase this from Geno's Garage along with new filters for the trans from them. This way when you replace the pan you will have the filters already there for when you service the trans. Geno's is selling the pan for $304.00 + shipping see page 16 of their latest catalog #107.
I have been using the Mag-Hytec pan since 2009 on my truck.

I used it on my 11 HO DRW and can say my trans temps even towing 29k combined were lower than most.

Congrats on the 2016!!!Yup! I went with the MagHyTec and filters from Geno's. If you are going to do the install yourself, check out Youtube videos and research it. A little tricky because the stock pan does NOT have a drain plug, so draining can be tricky and messy. Also it does not have a gasket (FCA used RTV). But the MagHytec comes with a gasket!!!!! which is great.

This is at 65k with 55k or so on the AMZ/OIL Signature series trans fluid. This is towing 28-29k about 1/2 the miles.

WOW im only towing 1/2 that weight, I could prob. gone with a 1/2 ton but i like Braking and feel of 2500 way better

Did you drop / fill Trans fluid a few times when going to AMZ/Oil ?

At around 10k I did a complete fluid exchange so from then til the pic it had one change of 100% AMZ/OIL.

It’s easy on the 68rfe to do the exchange.

I just read this hyperbole from ATS's website.....it gives me pause.

When referring to the stock bypass...

"The intent is to force the transmission to warm up faster, the reality is this bypass valve leaks and sticks in the bypass position in almost every case causing the transmission cooler flow to bypass the trans cooler essentially eliminating the trans cooler from the circuit. This causes a severe damage to the transmission over time."

Manufactured problems are problems too! I laughed pretty hard when I read that. Funny, my shop truck regularly tows 10k pounds plus and the trans temp runs 167-172 year round no matter the outside temps. So have every other 68rfe equipped trucks I’ve owned. Deleting the thermo block is silly in my opinion.

That's my experience with two trucks with 68 rfe transmissions also. Stock pan, stock ATF+4, stock thermostat block, running a smarty 67ME at 60 & 90 extra Hp level, towing a 15,000lb toyhauler, over 23,000lb GCW.

Just remember most aftermarket companies design and build a product for a perceived issue form their experience with former models. They will than try and market this product to fit their perceived issue with the new design model form the manufacture. There may or may not be an issue with the 68RFE transmission. But I would have though by now if there was an issue it would have been found by the TDR members on their trucks equipped with the 68RFE transmission.

I too tow heavy with my truck and my transmission temp gage has always been around 185F most of the time when towing in 90F ambient temps.

Like I said my 68rfe with 3.42's in my 2011 HO DRW seemed to run cooler than others and maybe it was because the MagHytec pan or the AMZ/OIL??? Here is proof. This was towing 28-29K combined in SoCal.
