I don't care much for ACC, too many bad drivers pass, and come over too soon, causing mine to brake, even though they are going faster than me. In my 17 5500, I would keep my speed and move my foot over to the brake in case the idiot passes and then brakes. The same with the 1500 on reg CC. ACC is a great option if folks didnt practically cut you off passing.
I know CAS works great in reverse, backing in my wife's 2019 Ram 1500, it locks brakes about a foot from bollard backing in. Haven't tried it forward as I always back into parking spots.

Weird, my Durangos ACC only brakes or slows down if the vehicle that comes into my lane is same speed or slower then mine. As long as it is faster my ACC doesn't care an maintain speed even if the other, sorry idiot, comes in just 20' in front of me.
*maybe they changed Programming in the past, @sag2 could possibly tell us more about it.
**did you check with AlfaOBD if there are adjustable parameters to the ACC??
Best quote EVER......I don't think I am ready to surrender the brake pedal to the wizard.
Yep, you can use regular CC or ACC, they are separate controls on my wife's truck. Thanks, HP. I don't think I am ready to surrender the brake pedal to the wizard. Is there any indication on the dash when it is dabbing the brakes? Can you choose regular cruise without ACC, if desired?
OK I have a question on the new 2019 or a 2020 trucks.
I have been following a thread on another RV forum about the new trucks with ACC and the exhaust brake on the engine! Per the posters they are claiming that when the exhaust brake is engaged and you have it set to Auto (I believe) this allows the truck to maintain the set speed descending down a slop with a load. The service brakes are engaged by the ECM + the engine exhaust brake to slow the truck and trailer down.
I fine this hard to believe that the Turbo exhaust brake would be tied into the service brakes on a truck! Could someone who has the latest truck please confirm if this is true, that the service brakes are applied or not when the following modes are set. One the exhaust brake is set to Automatic smart, tow/haul mode and the ACC if equipped is on? Thanks
I don't think the EB and service brakes are tied together, rather the ACC can apply the service brakes as required to maintain speed. The EB will still work independently.
What I don't know is the speed delta programming for that. My '18 will allow the speed to increase 5 mph above the CC set speed before engaging the EB.. I actually really dislike that, my 05 would engage the EB as soon as I was 1 mph above CC set speed.
I believe that smart EB set to auto that supposed to maintain speed provides a little more variance allowance for speed and the full setting is more restrictive on speed. I pretty much prefer full EB setting all the time.
Of course, this is my observation, and honestly, I haven't run auto setting on my EB.
I'm interested in hearing more on this topic.
