Ozy mine did not come with one. I did add one that sets on top of the cowl (changed annually) but the poor performance was there prior.

Ok, I asked because I've seen badly clogged ones from owners that, first didn't knew about it's existence, or second meant to change it every 5 years is enough. :D

What was the reason to choose the filter for the top of the cowl over the one in the stock location?

Since my truck did not come with the cut out in the plenum for the filter I just preferred installing the cowl filter. I know it's easy to add the filter in the OE location but I like the idea of having everything filtered from the cowl forward anyhow.

It was meant to have, that's why everything is there, the slide in on the inside, the locking tabs for the cover on the outside and the cut-out is outlined in the plastic. It is just not there, for whatever reasons. Every Gen4 is meant to have a cab air filter, and it's definitely the best upgrade one can do if it is lacking.

When I installed the kit on my '15, and saw the outline molded in I thought how chintzy could they be. They could have at least put the opening and cover there, and left the filter out on lower trim levels. It might have been from working under the dash too long, but I swore there was a middle finger molded into the plastic I cut out:confused:

Yepppppp.....it was NEVER meant to have it, that’s why there’s this actual MoPar part number and link for the same, identical thing:

I know the kit is available now and has been for a few years. I was told it was not when I purchased my truck in ‘14. Was told by a dealer, who I didn’t believe so I called FCA only to be told the same thing, that a cabin filter was not available for my model year truck.

My 18, the A/C is I think pretty solid, although the other day I did desire it to be colder. But not enough of a desire to install that valve in the heater core.

The Ventilated Seats really help out IMO.

I'm not sure I put a lot of stock in this, but Ram Cares put up a post today basically acknowledging there is an issue with the Gen 4.5, and that a fix is in the works. Hope it's true.

I started having cooling issues in our 2014 3500 and the culprit is the cab vents behind the rear seat. They are letting outside air into the cab instead of venting the cab to the outside. I took the back seats out and used some plastic sheeting and taped those vents off, made a huge improvement. The AC has always blown cold air but it could not keep up with all the hot outside air coming inside the truck. This winter when it cools off I am going to try to replace those vents, if not I will permanently cover them up. There is enough holes for the rear window motor that enables venting to the outside so I see no harm covering them up permanently.

Interesting.... I wonder if there would be an easy way to put a velcro cover from the outside to put on in the Summer and take off in the Winter?

I found the Ac on my 2012 standard cab to be more than adequate. Flash forward to my 2013 crew cab not so much. Same size heater/ Ac system but more than twice the size of the cab the system just can’t keep up. Hot days or the dead of winter.
