Guys, my signature truck needs new tires and here's my situation. Some of you may recall back when 3rd Gens first came out, KORE PERFORMANCE, or KROEKER OFF ROAD, came out with an 18" chrome wheel made by Weld. They have the exact same back-space and offset as the stock 17" wheel, the only difference being that they are 8" wide vs the stock 7 1/2". I have a set of those, however, I have been running the stock Michelin Tires, LTX A/S, LT265/70 R17....load range E until I wore them out. I would like the same qualities in an 18" tire...just a simple quiet all-season tire. Would like to know what you guys would recommend? I've read some negative stuff on here regarding the stock 18" tires that come on current trucks. I'm looking forward to moving up to an 18" tire but have no knowledge about them. Thanks!

I have been very happy with both the Falken Wildpeak AT3 on my Sequoia and Nitto tires on my Ram, the Falken is has excellent winter traction and super quiet on road so that would be my suggestion for a good all around tire.

The Nitto Terra Grappler AT has been a good all around compromise for me. They have good road manners and decent traction off road. The only time they have let me down was in very deep snow (18+ inches). As an added bonus, they aren't pebble chuckers like the BFG's.

I been buying the Cooper AT3, They have been a good tire for me, Will get them again. It will be my 3rd set.
Do you carry weight or tow heavy with the Coopers? They look very quiet and the reviews are pretty good. I do read about balance issues sometimes.

I have the Michelin's replacement for the LTX - Defender LTX load range E - on the truck now, and I do not like how they wear. Most of my miles are towing a 11,000 lb fifth wheel. And even though I run the RAM heavy load pressures ALL the time (75 PSI front / 80 PSI rear), the outside tread is wearing notably faster than the middle tread section - as if the tires are running with low pressure. I'll be surprised if I can get 40k miles out of this tire set. Best I can figure is that Michelin does not design these tires to run/wear evenly when the miles are primarily loaded miles.
My next set of tires will be Bridgestone R500s.

Great tire that will last forever. However they have very hard rubber compound(they are a commercial grade offering, made for delievery trucks basically) that can be a bit slippery with the torque of a diesel ahead. I put a set on our 2001.5 a year or before selling it, and had to be really careful on rain covered roads. They have a 2 ply sidewall where most offerings have a single ply sidewall, so they ride a tad stiffer. But if you want a tire that will go 100K that is it.

I am on my first set of AT3 XLT’s in 275/70R18 and they are the best AT tire I’ve ever ran.

More than once they have been loaded to 100% of capacity and often are towing on gravel roads. So far they are holding up quite well. 13 months on them, about 15K miles, and two elk hunting trips that make even the best of tires shredded beef.

For the first time in history my dad, my brother, and I all have the same tires on our pickups.

My next set of tires will be Bridgestone R500s.

That’s what I run on my 5th wheel. I’ve been very happy with their performance, but that’s not hard coming from ST’s. I will be getting them again thou, when the time comes.
