Just want to make sure I understand you correctly.

2019+ Cab lights will not fit on a 2018 that doesn't have cab lights at all?

I'm debating on adding them... I understand the risk, but really like the way they look.

I installed cab lights on my 1998 Ram back in the day and never leaked for the 6 years I owned the truck.

That is correct. They are different in the way they mount and hook up. You could get around the hooking up part easy enough but the mounting holes are a completely different design

.

I assume square hole is due to a connector instead of a bulb socket. But if the existing round hole is big enough, the square would pass through. The mopar add on kit wouldn't need square holes, how would you make square holes in the field without a special tool much like they use to make holes in electrical panels, but square.

Earl

No, the square hole is for the front mounting "tab" on the new lights to latch in not the socket to pass through. It is required for the new style lights to mount so what you are saying won't work.

I had a picture of it at one time I wish I could find it again.

Ahhhh okay okay. this was my plan all along, time to find a different route as I really like the 2019+ cab lights. I haven't done much digging up on them but as I see them on the road they almost look smaller than previous years as well as the LED.

Maybe I'll check out Recon, I was never a big fan of them due to the high price point, and I didn't think their quality was up to par. A friend of mine had their tail lights on an 05 F350 and within 3 years of those, he was losing LEDs, and I really didn't like the fit and finish to be honest.

I think... if I did get Cab Lights I don't think I would install them... I'm usually all for doing things myself but on this new of a truck it scares me.

I wonder if I bought the Cab light set that usually comes with these trucks and just swapped out the bulbs with LEDs and then brought it to the dealer, they would install, and if anything should come of it... Warranty. But then again I don't like trusting those techs with my Pride and joy.

Does anyone know, are all cab lights for 2013-2018 trucks clear housing with colored bulb?

Or how about 2019+, are those colored housing with clear bulbs?

The MOPAR ones are.

I did the install myself, the first hole was nerve wracking but it was fine after that.

Finding the proper wire to tap was a PITA and took a bit of contorsioning under the dash too.

With a look at a friend's 2019 Ram 2500 who has cab lights, I searched the internet for a little bit and I think I've come up with the closest thing to matching his. See below.

Although I'm not a fan of Recon, they are on mopar parts and accessories' website which I was surprised to see.

Next is 5th gen tail lights and maybe a tailgate (if it fits) and my truck will look even more like a 5th gen.
