Death wobble

Looking for help on death wobble. 2013 Ram 3500 dually 4x4 diesel. Went to small shop and was told I need left and right pitman arms and front rotors. I then went to dealership because I wanted factory parts but they only sell complete assemblies. Long story short dealership said they saw nothing wrong with the steering parts but brake rotors were very bad and thus could have caused the death wobble.??? Ideas please.

I would run from any shop that calls Tie Rod Ends as Pitman arms, very different things and a good shop would know that. I deal with DW alot and never seen rotors cause it but here is a good write up to go through https://www.thurenfabrication.com/tech/death-wobble-in-depth.html

Outstanding information. Thank you very much. I laid down for the brake job at the dealership, new rotors, pads etc. But not confident that the wobble isn't coming back.
I will be searching for a shop that can handle what you have suggested.

Ball joints an track bar. I would start there

Warped rotors only cause wobble while braking. Are you getting the wobble when not braking too?

No, I was getting the warped rotor feel when braking but one day while going down a hill it turned into a violent shaking. Had dealership do complete brake job. Before doing brakes I tried to duplicate what happened by going down the same hill and same speed but it didn't do it. Just don't get it.

Also you might want to check your alignment.
How straight does it go down the road?
How is tire wear?

Thank you, brakes are done. Next week will get OEM drag assembly, track bar and a aftermarket dual steering stabilizer installed then alignment. this extreme wobble has only happened once and with the great tips I,m getting here I hope that is the only time. Any other ideas are appreciated.

I would strongly recommend a good single steering stabilizer then a dual kit, most duals are emulsion style and are less effective then a single IFP style.

For an aftermarket steering stabilizer, I would look at a FOX Steering Stabilizer. There are several different models of the Fox and you will need to find the correct one for your year and truck.

I rebuilt my front end around 81,000 + miles, this included ball joints, upper and lower, tie trod ends and drag link. At 113,000 miles the front steering stabilizer started to fail so, I replaced this with a Fox single stabilizer. I also installed Bilstein 5100 shock absorber as they will work on either a 2" lift or standard ride height of the truck.. I went with the 5100 Series because I could not see Yellow and Blue shocks on a Silver and Black trim truck.
