About a week ago I did service on my 2016 6.7 rfe68 4x4 CCLB. Did oil , fuel filters , ccv & transmission filters . All filters are Mopar transmission +4 fluid also Mopar. Got what I thought was 8-9 quarts on the drain .( measured into a 2 1/2 gal def jug , not quite full) Didn’t drive it immediately, sat in shop . Next day started it and let it warm up . Next shifted it to reverse, neutral, drive several times , even backed out of the garage. Checked fluid level was a bit low so added to . ( checked in neutral with truck running and fairly warm)Didn’t drive it other than back in and out of shop . Weather was not good and truck was clean so waited a couple days. Well after a couple more days I was ready to go for a road test . Backed out of shop put truck in drive &would not go forward
At that time I set brake and checked fluid level again . It still checked low , so added another quart maybe a tad more. Truck now drove forward so proceeded on a short drive. Noticed check engine light. Put truck back in shop checking fluids adding a bit more . Fluid is now perfectly in hot range ( just over 10 quarts total ) . Bought $40 OBD II to get code . OBD would not clear code. Found a old TDR post on the subject with a lot of information. One poster said he disconnected batteries to clear code . I did this and it did clear so went to see if it was fixed now (test drive) Things were good at about 10-12 miles then I merged onto interstate and truck down shifted way down and check engine came back on . Truck in shop *and I’m trying to figure out if I want to pull pan & filters again or take it to dealer? The only thing I didn’t replace was the filter pick up seal as it “seemed “ ok & the videos said it was probably not necessary. I’m thinking do it all again wife says NO ! Truck has 42,000 mi and I have Max care
It’s a good thing I don’t have to have it right now.(I’m retired) There’s a dealership 2 miles from me.
Feeling stressed
* shop is my garage / workshop
