Thanks! The pic is taken at Washington Park near the Anacortes Ferry landing. Great place to launch for fishing, crabbing and shrimping in the SanJuan Islands.

Boat is a 23' 1978 GlasPly made in Arlington, WA. Rock solid boats, the Coast Guard ran them.

Great looking and functional setup there 12V. Buddy of mine explained how he used a following ball set at a certain depth and a variety of ways to use an attached lure. Sounds good to me.

Yes it’s works well. Fish hits and you are only fighting fish and lure.

Nice looking vessel notice the water there looks bit murky, is that because Ferry Landing. I am planning bringing up my vessel up to the San Juan islands to do spearing fishing, much easier than waiting around for the fish to steal the bait.

Funny story! Ron and I have been friends for several years now. Last summer we were out for a ride in the new 2020 Ford Edge ST and decided to do a loop of Camaro Island, which has a few nice twisties to ring out the ST and it's Ford Performance tuned chassis, along with the twin turbo 2.7L V6 with 335HP and 380 lb ft of torque. So coming back up the Southwest side of the Island I said to DW let loop through South Camano Island State Park where we have camped with trailers many times. The park has a lower level with picnic areas and a boat launch. That lower level was more crowded than I had every seen it, with trucks and boat trailers everywhere. I told DW I bet Ron is here out crabbing or fishing. And there is was just before we headed back up the hill, Ron's Red 2nd gen with a trailer I knew was has, as I had seen it at his house with a custom trailer brake setup mounted on the tongue.

HP, do you do the spear thing near the kelp forests' at Cat? I've seen a few less than friendly breezers while cruising through and they weren't blues.

Yes all the time for thirty plus years using scuba tanks, that's were the big fish hang out, occasionally do see California Blues and there landlord Great White I carry a bang stick couple 12ga shells!

We used to go crabbing from the boat launch over there on Camano to Baby Island. First we had a 1989 16 foot Wooldridge Alaskan, which was great in the Snoqualmie/Snohomish Rivers, but horrible in Salt Water. So then I found a nice 20 Foot Wooldridge Xtra Plus, inboard Chevy 350, Kodiak Marine built by KEM, in Texas of all places, got it cheap and trailered it back to its home. (Wooldridge guys are the real deal, 3rd gen boat builders). Sold it a couple years ago due to no more fish in Snoqualmie system. Dream boat is a 17 foot Wooldridge Sport with a 150 Yamaha Jet. Maybe I will end up needing that when my grandson wants to go fishing. That would be good Salt or Fresh.

Caught lots of Crab around Baby Island and Eldger bay.

I wouldn't consider the water murky. It's full of plankton and the like so it's not crystal clear.

Did really well on Spot shrimp this year.

It used to be Larboard and Starboard, but was easily confused when yelling across the deck of a huge sailboat so they changed Larboard to Port.

Larboard - 'loading' side.
Starboard - 'steering' side. The old steering oars were on the right side.

Don't think I have the stones for below level fishing I've caught some fair size home guard Yellows' in the area though. Strange thing then vs. now... I was mostly raised in Huntington and we surfed Warner..the cliffs..pier and down to the Wedge but never saw any smilers. We knew they were there but didn't give it much thought. Probably too busy showing off and checking out the ladies.

Around the Channel Islands when want to go deep, I have a re-breather VMS Red Bare CCR now I go in neighbor of 300 feet now as you can guess sometimes the spear fishing can surely be real good. Time on bottom is really hard to believe plus 3 hours as much as 5 hours. I really do enjoy diving!
