I know there are vehicle shortages right now because of chip shortages among other things. I decided just for grins and curiosity to check the NADA value on my truck because I keep hearing about how much even used cars have gone up.
I have a 2015 limited, entered my options and my "rough trade in" value was $51k and change. My retail value was $60,435. Seriously? I even double checked everything to make sure I didnt screw something up. Are people actually paying these prices for used vehicles?

wow ! i just looked mine up too. 44k is the supposed value. 2018 tradesman 2500. only trouble is, its like the housing market but with trucks. you can sell for record highs, but might not be able to get into another one very easily... a buddy with a 2018 chevy gasser got a call from the dealer after he bought it and the dealer offered to buy it back from him for an extra 5g a week after he bought it....cheers comrades! :)

Yup.
Been checking mine the last few weeks, really high, and in the last two weeks it went up over $1500.

Around Houston, used vehicle inventories are seriously low, and they say values are rising 2% per week, and we are at the highest used car values ever.

My 590,000 mile 2500 Lone Star Mega cab is showing at $37,325 retail!
CRAZY!!!

I posted this a few days ago on another forum.

I just pulled this off a news clip.

"Prices for used cars and trucks jumped 10.0% in April, a staggering number.

“This was the largest one-month increase since the series began in 1953, and it accounted for over a third of the seasonally adjusted all items increase,” the BLS noted in the release.

Compared to April 2020, the increase is a whopping 21.0%. (New vehicles prices rose 0.5%.)"

That's more than I paid for my 14 in 2016. Times are crazy, if things don't change soon we won't even be able to afford the DEF :(

At any rate, the values will never be good enough to match the current (non) payment I have now. It would be a great time to dump a truck now if one were downsizing to something smaller or in less demand.

Owning a RAM Cummins was my dream, now I have owned for for the past 20 years. If I sell my RV (which is also in uncharted resale territory) I wouldnt "need" the RAM. At some point things will normalize and it may be a mistake not taking advantage of this rare opportunity. Just got the truck the way I want it too. Meh, I'm not convinced yet, but it is something to think about.

If I knew my hunting plans for this upcoming year out-of-state I may consider selling my 2018 now. I need it though if I draw tags out of state to haul my camper and my quad trailer. If the prices are still high come this fall after hunting season I may consider it again.

people must be trading off their truck to any dealer that will take it. local ram dealer has a bunch of used chevy and ford that i dont think were there couple weeks ago

It’s getting beyond silly.

My 2011 5th wheel, in sig, is up 20% in 18 month.

My 2018 Ram, in sig, is also up. Trade in is what I paid for it and resale is 8% higher.

Well I stand corrected. I just looked again, as it’s been 3 weeks.

Average trade-in is 3K more than I paid and retail is 11K more, and only 2.5K below sticker :eek:

Our ATC has doubled in price since we bought it 4 years ago. I wonder what our 2018 4x2 Laramie is worth with a transferable 8/125 max care and only 24k miles with ARE cap?
Any offers??
Warranty won't come into play on NADA values, I don't think the equipment check sheet asks about a bed cap either.

The dealer where I bought my '18 Cummins and '19 Power Wagon offered me a cash price on each which was more than I paid. Trouble is they have no new inventory to buy a new one!

Looked my 07 up and with 205k on it , it was 22k value.... Crazy...22 yrs. ago I bought my place 4 bdrm 3bth 1 1/2 story 20 acres, 30 X 50 shop for 125k cash, now been offered 600k, and I sold off 1 3/4 acre...Crazy times

Anyone who pays over sticker is an idiot, they've got rocks in their head instead of brains.

What's the difference in paying sticker or over if that's the only way? I think paying MSRP is coming if not already here.

Bought any ammo lately or plywood? Realtors are offering builders thousands over the going price for homes around here.
