What is amazing is that some dealers will use "CARFAX" as the traded in offer and than list KBB as the asking price for said traded in car when they are selling.

How do I know this? This is what was done to my wife when she traded in her 2011 VW TDI Jetta car. The CARFAX trade in value was $4,500 and the Kelly Blue Book selling price from a dealer was $10,500. I checked on line at the dealer website.

After debating the ridiculous trade in value, I was able to get $7,000 for her car. I told the dealer that I felt the car was worth between $8,000 and $10,000 and I wanted the $10,000 grand, but my wife caved in taking the $7,000. Since this was her car, she had the last say.

Carfax has has sent an e-mail to me saying my truck's traded in value was a little over $15K for a 2500, 6.7L, Dodge Mega Cab. I have never been a user of Carfax for anything, but this showed up right after we sold my wife's VW.

Well, Nada is saying my truck is worth 101K retail / 95K clean trade in... That 25k more than I paid 7mo ago and I just got back from the cross country trip that I bought it for, I am thinking about listing it but not sure I really want to be w/o a truck until the prices come back down (if they ever do)

Looked up the web site for my local dealer so I could call and make an appointment for a recall and looked at some inventory for the heck of it, OMG! The prices are off the charts....

'22 Tradesman, 2500 about like mine, MSRP $62,000, sale price, $75,000:eek:

This is why I ordered a ‘22. The trade-in values are insane (well above what I paid for the truck 3 years ago).

Truck prices are also insane, but I’m getting a decently equipped Laramie for just a touch above that “sale” price. Well below MSRP, but I’ve also been playing the waiting game for more than 5 months.

yup.. absolutely nutz.... My truck according to NADA is worth 20k more than what I paid for it last I checked and if I wanted to wait, I could probably order / move to a 22' with not much out of pocket,..

I would run from that dealer, many places at MSRP.

The dealer I bought 10 vehicles from tried a 10k mark up and I walked.

Another dealer I have bought 9 vehicles from wanted $7500.

20 min down the road MSRP.

All these are within 35 miles of each other.

$13k is absurd, market pricing is a joke.

It's probably $3k to ship one to you from almost anywhere. (Used to be $1800)

Our 2000 Trooper and our 2005 Pilot sustained major damage including frame damage to the Trooper. Both have a clean Carfax. The Trooper had $12K and the Pilot had $8K in damage. My buddy has a dealership and use them as the public doesn't realize that Carfax is only accurate when the repair facility reports the repair total.

Not just local, Mesa, AZ is worse. 2018, 3500 cab chassis, Tradesman, crew cab 4x2 with a gasser...$60k

Yeah not picking on this dealer they have to stay afloat somehow and lack of inventory could bring a few extra bucks and cover a little of operating costs.

Just so many places are MSRP, suggest folks just ask what the going is.

Paying cash or loans does not help either, we typically pay cash and it's even worse since they lose a few bucks on that sale of the loan.

You will also find most websites show thousands in rebates, most of that is all gone the rebates are kinda a thing of the past.

But some dealers will not even offer the rebates regardless if you qualify for them or not. They just brush them off.

I was very happy with the order process so far, even knowing it will be 6+ months. I might pick up a 1500 for the gap, need a second vehicle with car seats. Figure there is not much downside to having a decent 6mo old trade in, I've been crunching the numbers, will see what the next 2 weeks hold.

My '07 2500 standard cab 4wd SLT manual with 110000 miles hovers between $21 and $23K, KBB and NADA. 92117 San Diego. $6.74 cash independent today.
We're undergoing a "painful transition" said the Boss Man in the White House. 'Ya think? Even Musk said in the short term we need to expand our harvested fossil fuel. Modern mini nukes are the only way to electrify the nation along with much upgraded infrastructure. There's no amount of windmills, solar, geothermal or solar's going to do it.
China gets it. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/En... 53 nuclear power, surpass the U.S. and France.
