Has anyone tried the windshield gauge mounts from Geno's? My concern is the durability of the adhesive that would be used to hold the velcro in place. I wonder how long will that adhesive will hold up to temperatures ranging from 90 degrees to 20 degrees?

One goal I have is to keep the gauges out of plain sight from the outside of the truck. They don't have to be instantly visible to the driver either.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'm currently running one on my truck, I've had no issues with the provided adhesive its plenty strong for the application. If it concerns you I would recommend using double sided Gorilla tape. Here is a link to my setup. Just understand that the provided wires for the gauge may not be long enough to reach; I had 5 gauges to install and just enough left over wires from the closer gauges to re use for the overhead ones.

I have one in my 06 that has seen alot of hard off road use, weather and what not for about 5 years now and works well, you can use a heavier duty Velcro.

I hate that location up high and center, but I do wear prescription glasses. I would a-pillar mount or install the Edge CTS3 and velcro it to the dash. I use a carpet dash cover, CTS3 is velcroed on the left side in my 2003. I can't see the little 2" gauges at the headliner unless I raise my head all the way back and use the lower part of my glasses, getting old sucks. The a-pillar worked better even before I wore glasses, I have the three gauge a-pillar mount in my old truck.

I didn't like the center position either, so I moved it closer on the left hand side of the rear view mirror.

I hate pillar gauges and bright screens hanging off the pillar, almost as if its personal preference and not a 1 size fits all solution......

Thank you guys for your input.

I don't need to see the added gauges except occasionally. It would be fine if I had to shift my vision temporarily to see the gauges. The brightness of aftermarket gauges can be an issue with night driving. That can probably be corrected by adding resistors but that's additional time which maybe can be bypassed. These things said, here is an out of the ordinary thought - mount the gauges under the steering column on that rectangular panel. See the attached photo. I would have to build a mount to make the mounting vertical. That panel is pretty well reinforced on the back side. I'm wondering if that's related to vibration / rattling or crash safety. Thoughts? There is plenty of room for the gauges on the back side of this panel.

What are your thoughts?

@PLohr, That's called a knee bolster and would be a crash safety issue! I know I would want a gauge embedded into my knees in the event of a crash! I'm going to use a dash top setup that will have Velcro hold it onto the carpet dash topper. May even use a mechanical fastener of some type along with the Velcro. I have some rivitnuts that I could use a washer below with the wide flange it has on the top. Then a bumper on bottom to not scratch the dash and short screw to hold down. JM2C idea.

I had one and hated it. It never stayed put, even with some high strength double stickey back, and it’s a horrible place to monitor gauges.

The triple dash pod was my favorite.

No problems with night driving using the ISSPRO EV2’s. They can be programmed with a PC and also have a dimmer knob.
