Once I get the next 2 gallons I have on order from Amsoil it will give me 2 oil changes worth so am good for a while am also glad my DBL oil filters from my 5.9 will fit my new 6.7, I hated having to buy oil at $31.79 a gallon ( I did like the free shipping on orders over $49) when I use to buy T6 for $20. at Wally but now see 5w40 T6 online at Wally's for $145.99 when buying a 3 pack :mad:

Well... I found the box I thought I had when I was cleaning the house garage (long story)...... 4 gal of DEF,... came with my truck when I picked it up DEC 2020. Thoughts? Garage does not get hot,.. but it is almost 2y old.

Cheers!

Traveling from SW Idaho to Keywest and back was painful on the pocketbook!! Once I got south of Miami, the only place I could find DEF was in Autozone and it was their brand. I heard that Home Depot had it too but once I found it at Autozone, I was happy.
I've purchased Blue DEF in the 2.5 gallon container from O'Reily's, but have not found the date code on the box. The store manager said it had been inside the store for less than 30 days.
Recently, it's been a string of 100 degree plus days, I wonder what the appropriate thing to do with what DEF is in the tank if I'm not driving it for 20+ days? It looks like there is a pretty short life if the ambient temp is up.
One thing I noticed during the 7600 mile trip is that when towing the truck sips the DEF
When I'm no towing, the truck drinks the DEF. Probably because the temps aren't high enough when not towing to keep the sensors happy.

Interesting, it should be the opposite. Temp in the SCR only has to be above 3xx°, which happens pretty quick. Once the SCR is warm the nOX levels drive the DEF consumption rate, not temps.

DEF usage is inversely proportional to EGR use, and when empty the EGR is used heavier than towing. I haven't towed with the '22 yet on the '18 the EGR was generally closed above ~65% engine load and DEF use really increases. The '18 got 1000 mpg empty and 500 towing. Time will tell what the HO '22 drinks for DEF.

Maybe its just an optical illusion then.
From SW Idaho to Brookings Oregon earlier this month, about 640 miles, I noticed that it took
less than 1/2 tank to the coast and then driving up and down the coast for a week, about 300 miles without towing, drank about a 1/4 of tank. The big difference is the towing speed was generally 65 for most of the travel across southern Oregon except the last area from rt 140 Klamath Falls to Rt 199 to the 101 was slower like 45 to 50. Travel around town was rarely above 55.
I added 2.5 gallons of blue DEF in Brookings and the tank was around 3/4 tank maybe a little more but definetly not full. In my driveway after the trip, it has one tick mark more than 1/2 a tank of DEF. I noticed a regen on the way back to Idaho according to the CTS 3. EGT temps were almost always between 700 to 900+ towing depending on the mountain we were going over. Averaged about 9mpg. the travel trailer weight scaled at 8350.
