What's been your most satisfying, yet a** pain job you've done on your 4th Gen?

My 2012 (pre-DEF) never has an issue passing smog here in Colorado...maintained to at least or better factory service intervals...here it is by county... 5 miles up the road and no emissions testing at all...

Worst job was replacing the ball joints.

Conversely I must add that this tough job has probably bought the greatest amount of joy to my ownership of this truck. For a long time I really never liked driving the truck due to its poor steering. I was ready to unload it and purchase a different brand. After I installed Carli ball joints, Carli track bar and a Thuren spec alignment - I actually enjoy driving the truck now.

OK, can it avoidance of a PITA job? I got my '15 in Oct 2018. Sometime the next winter, I had the jumpiness of a frozen (OEM "lubed for life") front axle U joint. I dislike replacing them, but especially so in winter. I jacked and supported the front end and tried to sneak some oil into the caps by prying gently at the rubber seals. It felt like a hail mary pass, but it loosened it up with a few rotations of the wheel. I try to remember to put a bit more in/on all of them when I'm changing oil and I haven't had any trouble since.

The evaporator core and heater core is a treat on these trucks. I made my 16-year old do most of it so that I could sit back and enjoy the frustration from a distance.....LOL

I'm seeing a trend here. Even though I enjoy creating new cuss words and obscenities, the heater core does not sound fun. Thanks for sharing.

Replacing the factory hard plastic steering wheel on my 2018 SLT with a leather OEM one with radio controls. The job went a lot smoother once I got the proper airbag removal tool.

Front end, Ball joints, track bar, control arms , drag link, steering box and steering shaft. Every little bit helped but it was never right until I replaced the steering column. On my 2013.
That last adventure with the Death wobble really messed things up. Actually tore up the U joint in the Steering column. Truck was ok to drive after all that but never as good as the o5 or my friends 17. When I swapped out the steering box I couldn’t believe how much metal drained out of it.
The new owner will never have another issue with it now.

Finding and fixing a squeak in the dash/console area of my 2022. It ended up being in the chrome trim on the driver top edge of the console. Took it apart and ran a bead of adhesive on the backside of the trim. No more squeak!!!
