Renewed my membership. My truck suffers from extreme death wobble, no in between, 10.0 earthquake every time, I need all the advice I can get, considering a new Borgeson or Red head box with stabilizer bar, having lil trouble navigating this site, been gone for a decade, I value your opinions as I don’t know much on the subject, Ty
 
What exactly is your truck? Aftermarket wheels or if you are toed out, is the main contributor. Assuming you have checked all moving parts for excess wear.
 
1. Track Bar
2. Everything else (Tie Rods, Drag Link, Steering Stabilizer, Shocks, Control Arm Bushings)
3. Steering Box

I doubt it would be cured by just replacing steering gear. Track Bars are very good place to start.

I did just hear that theory about toe from a friend that factory spec toe may not be correct for aftermarket tires, which I do have aftermarket tires. Where can I find out the correct toe ?
 
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but generally and simply, DW is the axle rapidly oscillating side-to-side. It only happens on vehicles with a straight axle, correct? What ALLOWS the oscillating is the problem.

Toe will be the same regardless of tires or wheels however you want to reduce the caster as wheel offset decreases , so wheels that stick out further need less caster then wheels that are more inboard.

It can happen with IFS but not nearly as common.

How does one find correct toe, is toe setting by tire manufacturer or by truck manufacturer, I’ve heard this theory before and would like to investigate further so I have knowledge when I get an alignment done, they’re not OM

Do you have a T- or a Y-steering setup on your truck? You don't mention the MY above.
Embarrassed to say idk, whatever stock was in 98 on the 3500, researching how to tell now, I’m seeing lots of people upgrading to newer Year setups on the 2nd gens
 
I can see there’s a lot to know about this subject and I’m definitely a rookie does anyone here suggest upgrading this front end to a newer generation, I almost died on the highway with my son during rush hour I’ll do anything to fix this, ty

98 should have a T-steering from factory, so you are good there.
Do the Thuren Alignment and if everything else is tight the DW should be history.
DW is simply tires fighting each other over the course the vehicle should take.
 
I did lift the front end with 2” spacers, I’ve read that if you lift your truck an adjustable track bar is a must, would that apply to me with such a small lift ?
