This is for a 2017 Ra 2500.
I just connected my trailer to the truck for the first time yesterday.
This is a new trailer with electric over hydraulic disc brakes.

The manual states that I have access to 4 settings---light electric---heavy electric---light electric over bydraulic and heavy electric over hydraulic.

My dashboard screen right now says LIGHT ELECTRIC.

I have tried everything I can think of to change the setting to Heavy electric over hydraulic but nothing seems to work. All I CAN do is to increase the gain by hitting the plus key on the controller.

The manual is no further help.
The brakes seem to work well enough with the unloaded trailer but I want to use the proper setting once the 10,000 plus boat is loaded onto the trailer.
Any ideas here?
Thanks
Eddie

That's the default setting. With truck in park, and a the trailer attached, access the trailer menu, switch to the setting you would like to use. Once that's been selected, adjust the amount of gain you need for the load. That'll take a bit of trial and error on that part. Then you can name that setting so that you can find it faster in the menu next time. You should name it Boat so you'll have the setting that works for it. Can't remember how many trailer settings that you can save. I have a setting for my car/equipment trailer saved and then 1 for a small utility trailer. Sometimes have to adjust the gain due to the load on them. Good luck with settings and ask away as needed! TDR has helped me many times! :)

Edit: forgot to say have trailer attached!

On my 2020 the trailer setting is accessed thru the “Settings” menu of the radio in case you were not aware of that.
I went thru the very same thing when I bought the truck last year so you are by no means alone..:D

That's the problem. I can SEE the default setting n the window but I can not find a way to access the emnu to chaznge the setting. It sjuld be easy but I can not find the proper sequence of buttons to access the menu.

I went all through the radio and can NOTHING relative to trailer. I have tried SETTINGS but there is nothing relative to trailer there either.
HMMM!!!

Set to HEAVY Electric over Hydraulic. I have tried light on light applications and it's better IMHO to set heavy and adjust + -.

Yes--that is exactly what I want to do but I can not find any way to access this menu to make the change.
If you know exactly where to look to get to this menu I would apprecieate it.
Thanks

This is with truck running, trailer plugged in.

“Settings”….wherever that is on your year of truck. Mine is plainly marked button to the right of the radio screen.

Yes, I can see this BUT---
I do not SEEM to have the same radio and I DEFINITELY do not see the choice of TRAILER when I click the SYSTEM button.
I can not psot a picture of my screen right now as the trailer is not connected but, I will tackle this "with determination" tomorrow and take a photo as I get into it.
Thanks

You shouldn’t need the trailer attached.

The trailer settings menu is usually reached thru the radio, under settings. There will be a trailer submenu.

What radio do you have?

Thanks, I had this same issue a week ago. Mine was set from years ago but just wanted to turn it up a notch. Totally forgot I needed the radio part to control.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
OK,
I finally figured it out. The manual was less than helpful and leaves a lot of stuff out but I got it!
For those of you who are having trouble with this:

1.The Ignition MUST be in the ON(RUN) position. The “Accessory” position will NOT work.
2.Use the touch screen to press the CONTROL button at the extreme right of the bottom of the screen
3. Touch the SETTINGS button that appears in the center of the next screen to enter the Vehicle Settings home screen.
4. Touch the DOWN ARROW at the right of the screen to go to Page 2 of Vehicle Settings. TRAILER BRAKE is on Page 2 and the 3rd one down.
5. Select TRAILER BRAKE either via the touch screen OR by rotating the Radio Tuning Knob and PRESSING IT to access the TRAILER BRAKE Sub Menu.
6. From the Brake Sub Menu make your selection from the four choices offered, either using the touch screen or by rotating the tuning knob and pressing it when you reach your selection.
7. Press the X at the uper right corner of the screen to exit Vehicle Settings.

Hope this helps others along the way.
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
Eddie
