Good-bye EcoDiesel, Hello Cummins

Anyone know if 2025 CC 5500 will be any different than 2024

I believe they are standardizing the ZF Powerline in the 2500 all the way thru to the 5500 CC.

I am not sure what they are doing with the cab and chassis either. No one is really mentioning that. Most folks are more interested in the transmission right now.

No one really knows till Stellantis publishes it.

I have 2 5500's. 2018 and 2021. Just took the 21 out yesterday for 110 miles to pick up 3 flat file cabinets. The 2018 with switch N go dump system is getting sold tomorrow. I have had it 3.5 years and only 6700 miles. I don't use it enough to justify it. Love these trucks.
Yes the 2018 was bought new sep 2020. Got a killer deal.

That ZF trans sounds like an incredibly complicated design...wonder what it costs for a rebuild. If there are even any techs who can work on it. Scaring me. I am simple I guess.
A lot.

That new Hurricane engine doesn't have a dipstick either. All on the EVIC. Just another sensor to die or give bad readings.

Maybe the 9 speed is completely different, dunno. But it sounds like Honda is designing their own transmission now after all the problems they have had with the ZF. And it doesn't sound like it's as easy to do the fluid changes as the Aisin either. But to each his own. I got soured on the overly complex German engineering with some VERY expensive German dental equipment in the 1990s. Techs couldn't figure s--- out, parts were always on the slow boat and we finally just took our medicine and gave the stuff to the repair guy for parts and went back to the simple, American built units that anyone could figure out. So I have bias.

"October 8, 2023 — Honda 9-speed transmission problems have caused a class action lawsuit for all current and former owners or lessees who purchased or leased any Honda vehicle equipped with a ZF 9HP 9-speed automatic transmission.

According to the Honda class action, the following vehicles allegedly suffer from "rough and delayed shifting, loud noises during shifting, harsh engagement of gears, sudden, harsh accelerations and decelerations, and sudden loss of power."...........

I'd like to see RAM have an automatic (part-time) 4x4 option like in the 1500.

I loved it this past winter in my EcoD, versus going in and out of full-time 4x4 in my work truck.

Does any current heavy duty (GM/Ford) have this in their heavy duty line yet?

For clarification, auto 4wd is "full time" and fully locking it in 4wd is part time.

On top of that, auto-4wd and full time 4wd are not the same thing. auto-4wd is just automatically engaging/disengaging part-time 4wd as needed. True full time 4wd is all wheel drive, and can ran on hard surfaces. This is why I am not a fan of it, my 0.02

I don't believe any HD transfer case has the auto-4wd option.

I'd really love to have a HD transfer case with true part time and full time 4wd options.

Sorry, I got them mixed up!!! But you know what I meant.

I think we've all been in the situation of jump, jump, jump goes the front end if you get a little bit a clear pavement making a turn, when everything else is nothing but a sloppy mess.

This winter I had it happen twice in the work truck this winter because I put it in as the truck doesn't have good winter tires and going up inclines with trailers.... then I get in my EcoD that has the auto 4x4 and I use it all trip then turn it back to 2wd when parked in the garage.

Heck, I even turned off auto 4x4 in the EcoD accidentally thinking I was driving the work truck.

"Wonder what’s taking Ram so long with 2025 details thou…."

I would guess they have a large inventory to sell. When the '25 info comes out the '24's might be a hard sell. Especially in the 2500's. I think they will get a larger update over the 3500's.

not sure how true it is, but a lot of you tube guys saying there are ram inventory for 100s of days, even 2022s on lots. some say over 700 days. i have read that the ram is the vehicle that sits on the lot the longest currently out of all vehicles. thats bad. additionally, dodge etc has lost several big wigs in the past month. many resignations etc. additionally, wild speculation over stellantis going under. cheers comrades!

Tough out there for sales for sure. Good time to be a cash buyer IMO. But everyone's case and situation is different.

They are still really awesome rigs in the most basic all the way to the highest trim.

Since it's not really a "new" truck, it might not be a large marketing budget for the roll out for all the above reasons posted prior.

funny how times change. I ordered a new 3500 during covid and it got pushed back so far that after 8 months of waiting with no build date I cancelled my order with the dealership. I wound up buying a used 2500 but when companies treat their customers like that in good times they can't expect them to be loyal to them in bad times.
