Rear Window Leak, How to tell if it's the Apeture

On an 04 manual transmission can the turn signal switch be changed out without removing the steering wheel? The intermittent wipers does not work and there are times when I open the door the wipers swipe the windshield on their own.

I changed it this summer but I can not remember it... dang
I believe I did it without as I have no puller in my tool box.

You should be able to. I wrote a post about BOMBing the multifunction switch for a free Brite Box effect. To modify the switch, I had to get it out. I pulled the wheel, but then realized just turning the wheel 90° gave me enough room to access the scrcews without removing the airbag and wheel. Hope you can follow, it used to have photos, but they don't show up anymore. (thanks to Photobucket )

"If you remove the upper and lower shrouds on the steering column, and turn the wheel 90* to the left, you can remove the 2 philips head screws that holds the switch in there. The connector is on the back (push the red tag towards the instrument panel, squeeze, and pull it out) The whole switch just slides towards the left. Pulling up on the "ears" where the 2 screws were helps. The only thing holding it in is the little grey tit showing in the hole between the 2 screw holes."

Currently I can't use the delay for the wipers, I have to wiggle the switch and they move. Low and high work as they should, sometimes on low there is stutter but, they work. I caught a couple of youtube videos that were exactly as bighammer described, thanks guys.

Yes, you can. I've done it a couple of times on my 04.5 manual trying to run down a wiper issue that turned out to be the PDC. Pretty straight forward.
