Idle issues.

The fact that he knows the correct procedure to check the issue out and how to go about fixing it. I think that would be qualification enough! He's well aware of the counterfeit problem and the flow test proves that the counterfeit filter was the issue. Glad that he is willing to tell people what to look for under the circumstances encountered.

I would agree, his diagnostic steps were logical, and exactly what I would have done in the same situation. Obviously the first shop that he brought it to didn't follow the same basic steps, or they would have identified the problem before they wasted thou$and$ of the customers money and still didn't fix it.

have you ever wondered what qualifies the man in the you tube video besides him saying he was qualified?

Nope !!!

Yup !!!

Definitely a video worth watching. Very frustrating seeing all these counterfeit parts. I have bought Baldwin oil filters from Rock Auto when they were on sale in the past. Now it makes me wonder what I have been purchasing. Where does Rock Auto get them and then sell them much cheaper than my local parts house.........

any of you not wonder why it may not be counterfit but in fact defective?

I'm always a sceptic..

any diesel mechanic knows the only way to really know if a fuel filter is restricted is to measure the restriction with either some type of manometer or the electronic equivalent..

Seems that the flow test done clearly showed the restriction. How many people know about the check ball?
all diesel fuel systems have some type of check system on both the suction and return sides to prevent the system from draining back to the tank when shut down.
