I have just finished installing four gages and would like to connect the gage lights so that they come on when the headlights are turned on and, if possible, also operate off the dash dimmer. But if that is too diffucult at least have them operate with the headlight switch.

Of course, one assumes that the proper port in which to measure idle pressure will be post filter. Also, proper maintaince re fuel filter is also assumed.

I don't think you are off base at all. In fact, I think you are right on the money. The LP is driven by an electric motor and therefore its fuel delivery is independent of engine speed or load. It is, of course dependent on receiving the correct voltage. The injection pump (I think)...
Mounting the gage under the hood is not useless because the pressure can be checked at idle - the test that Dodge specifies. This should be adequite; if the idle pressure is above 10psi the lift pump will supply sufficient fuel for a stock engine.

A couple of years ago I installed a Pac-Brake exhaust brake which involved replacing the elbow leaving the turbo. The new elbow from Pac-Brake has the port.

Ok! I'm convinced. I'm ready to install EGT and Boost gages. I have a port post turbo that will take an EGT sensor but I can't locate a likely place to install a boost sensor. I need help from someone who has done this. From what I read on these threads it seems as if everyone has a boost...
So far (95,000 miles) the lift pump on my 99 stock engine is performing well. It meets Dodge's pressure and flow specs.
But all the threads on here lead me to believe that sooner or later it will have to be replaced. Do any of you who have done this job have any words of wisdom as to how...
I mounted a 0-30psi gage (NAPA, $14) in the port after the filter on top of the fuel filter housing. The gage came with a 1/4-in NPT so I had to buy an adapter as the port in the filter housing is 1/8-in NPT. I just returned from a 3500 mile trip to the Rockies and I checked the fuel pressure...
Thanks for your response, guys. I think I will leave the gage mounted to the fuel filter houing for the next few weeks. We are heading out to Colorado in a couple of days (about 1500 miles from here) and I will be able to check the fuel pressure when I stop for fuel.
