I used an ATV lift for my NV 4500, it was way cheaper than a true transmission jack and had a big flat surface for the transmission. Got it from Sears for 100 bucks. I have seen numerous safety bulletins on china made jacks failing under very small loads, I would not get one. I think all Harbor Freight...
I just starting getting our work trucks switched over to the Toyos. We were running Goodyear MTRs but there always seems to be some sort of availability issues with them about once a year. The environment we run in we were getting about 9k miles out of a set of 285s. One good thing I will say...
Well that would be my next question? Whether ya'll had a donor truck or bought parts piece meal. I may have a connection with some salvage yards so Monday I will start asking around. Didn’t think to check ebay, I don’t go there very often.
Thx for the replies

I have a 98 4x4 QC 12v with a bad auto; I have seen several folks on here that have converted to a 5 speed. Has anyone posted or seen a faq or parts list anywhere for what this entails. Does anyone have a rough idea of the cost?
Thx

Well I just got a 98 QC SB 4x4 with 130k miles on it. It is a SLT Laramie and is in pretty darn good shape except for the transmission. I think I saw where the truck was built in 11/97. I had an 05 but didn’t like the glitches or the payments and my favorite is still the 1st gens, but this will...
Are you sure the problem is in the t-case and not the two piece front axle, a vacuum leak could be keeping the front collar on the axles from fully engaging
Well thanks to members of the board I got the VP and the FASS put on at a small shop in Tucson called Just for fun Automotive. The owner Don was able to work on the truck with very short notice and didnt mind that we had already bought the parts. Truck is still a dog when pulling but at least it...
I tried the second number and never got an answer. I ended up ordering the parts from Doug at Diesel Performance Warehouse and will be doing the VP swap myself and adding a FASS
I called Strictly Diesel and the guy I talked to was very helpful and did some calling around also to look at different options.
I will have to call him today to let him know we won’t be bringing the truck up there. After talking on the phone I would trust the shop to do good work, but the...
Well this is the second time in two years on a stock 3500. I am seriously looking at swapping the cam out and adding a mechanical lift pump. I was wondering how many folks have done this and what a ballpark figure for cost would be. The shop here in town wanted 3500 for a reman VP and to replace...
I need to get my girlfriends 98. 5 3500 in the shop to get looked at. It seems to be losing power when pulling the horse trailer. We have taken the truck to Desert Diesel in Tucson a couple of time but just don’t get a warm fuzzy about the quality of the work. The truck will be running along...
