There is a lot of conflicting information out there regarding EMPs and its effects on vehicles. Sounds like the best thing to do is to do the best you can afford and hope for the best. Sounds like I'll be getting a 12 valve.
I'm more interested in having an old vehicle that is "easily" repairable and resistant to EMP from solar flares or potential terrorist/wartime activities. Want to know more -- read (or listen to) "One second after"
I'm not worried about running from the cops -- and if i was, i wouldn't do it...
OK, now I'm going to probably get eyes rolling, but since we are talking about early model rebuilds -- I'm thinking of and EMP resistant/proof truck. What would it take?
I know Atwoods (farm supply store) is a regional store, but my local store seems to have a consistent supply of CI4+ in their store branded 5-gallons pails for about $55.
Check out TSB 18-015-00 Rev A which discusses reprogramming the ECM.
My truck has exactly the same problem and if you do a search, you will find a common thread with second and third gen trucks (my observation). My next step is to contact the dealer and see if I have the most recent version...
There are similar warm start problems with the 2nd generation rams. My 1998. 5 24 valve has a similar problem however, mine will sometimes crank without starting. After 2 or 3 attempts, I will let it crank for 15 or 30 seconds and it will finally start. This prolonged cranking is bound to not be...
My 98. 5 had several cracks in the manifold-- my truck is completley stock. I bought a new stock manifold from the local dealer. It appears that the new manifold may have slightly thicker walls, but by the time it was all said and done, the ATS would have been the same price and probably more...
Yes, the alarm system is still doing the same thingand I cannot figure out how to reset it  ! Someone told me that there should be a reset button, but I have not been able to find it. I tried to reach the previous owner to see if he can give me some info, but no luck so far.
Sorry for the delay, but I was out of town. Did not get a FOB when I bought it. Locking and unlocking the driver's side door does not reset it. Any other ideas?
I took the steering column panel out and found the control -- It only says "20F5 D" on it.
I disconnected my battery last night to change my lift pump. When I put the battery cables back on, the parking lights, clearance light, and instrument lights began flashing. After about 1 minute they stopped. I opened the door to try to start the engine and the lights began flashing again...
This may be a newby-type question, but I am replaceing the LP tonight on my 1998. 5 3500 4wd. When I took out the banjo bolts, one of them had what looks like a ball-bearing that might be used in a ball-type check valve, but I cannot see any surface that it would seat against. The manual does...
