I have never changed or checked the fluid, due to not having the tool to do so, when should it be changed and with what fluid should be used? I did try to use a bolt that I grinded to fit the hex shape but it did not work because of my grinding was slightly tapered and it just slipped out. Why...

My 05 makes a noise but I believe it is the pinion bearing, it grinds alot at higher speeds when I let off the throttle. With my lift I did not add extra diff fluid for when the pinion was rotated up slightly. I jacked it up on jack stands and set the cruise and it makes the noise at the center...

Oops, sorry to hear that about your fuel tank, at least you fixed it, always check for clearance and if its going to be close put something in between, like a light gauge piece of sheep metal. If this was a gas job, you might not be here today...
