Was it a rebuilt motor?
I had nothing but problems with 3 rebuilds, returned all of them, not from same place.
I bought Dorman - OE Solutions Windshield Wiper Motor Part No. 601-303which is a new motor from advanceauto and it works like a champ. The depth of the spline where it mounts into...
My recommendations in order
4k governor springs
Tune the AFC-smoke screw
Those two should get you a very noticeable improvement with out killing your trany. I could add a lot more to the list however that would involve increasing the hp which might kill the trany.
I also have a quad cab, short bed, 12V, but mine is a built auto. I looked for quite some time several years back for the short bed and had to drive 10 hrs to pick mine up. (Didn't want a rusted out one from around me in the rust belt :) ) I wanted a QC so my daughter could more easily get in...

Or you could zip tie the arm all the way...
There is a guy local to me that was able to match the original dodge fabric and really firmed up the seat with new padding, it is great. He does advertise every so often on E-bay for the service. I think his user name is mcmahonmopar, if you do a search under ram seat upholstery you should find it.
I would first suspect the relays that activate the grid. One of them could have given out. I replaced both of mine and they now work great.
Here is a link to my r&r.

I believe that that is the "tip" of the band adjuster (the part that the adjuster bolt pushes on). The adjuster probably split the tip and that is where you looseness came about.
