2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Cruise Control Indicator

Lucky you - I have just the opposite problem. "Cruise" indicator light comes on but cruise control doesn't work. Did the trouble shooting from the service manual - I have vacuum to the speed control servo and all of the servo electical checks out but still no workee! Looks like time to go to...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission What Do I Do With It?

Sorry Doc Tinker, I was AWOL yesterday. I didn't drill at all, I used the 3M double back tape that came in my kit. I have had it on since early July and it is doing just fine. Had to do some trimming around the key area to make it fit better though when I first installed it. When you turn the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Who said changing Banjo Bolts was a 15 minute job?

I think possibly the difference here is the year of the vehicles. My '99 doesn't have a fitting on the bottom of the fuel filter canister, both fittings there are on the top and readily accessable. The only difficulty I had were the two on the lift pump and dropping one of the washers...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission What Do I Do With It?

I have a Westach fuel pressure gage from Genos mounted in mine and it scrapes the back side of the steering wheel when you turn. The front of the Westach just sticks out further than most gages. It barely touchs and you don't hardly notice it but it does contact the steering wheel.

    Sam's Offroad

I placed my order at about the same time you did and finally got them at the end of July for the 3-for-1 deal (they billed my credit card immediately in June though). Now I find out that they recommend a different shock for the front (9122 or something instead of 9197) and that the RS9000 is...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Oil Pressure Sensor

See my post on 24 V Oil Pressure Sending Unit. The part I got was the same as the Toolman's - 3408428. My '99 has 4 wheel ABS and all the associated "hardware" in the way on the drivers side but install took me less than 5 minutes from above. Just reach down under the fuel filter canister...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24V Oil Pressure Sending Unit

Back to the top! Come on guys! I know someone out there has the answer. One of these days you are all going to have to change your oil pressure sending unit. :p

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 24V Oil Pressure Sending Unit

I just replaced the oil pressure sending unit at 85K miles (yes, it scares the living sh** out of you when your oil pressure gage goes to zero when you are going 85 mph down the freeway!). Reading some previous threads I found the Cummins part number to be 3408428. Call distributor in SLC and...

How to install Abbott-ERA speedometer correction.

SUCCESS! I moved the Abbott to pin 12, turned switch 1 on, went for a drive - no speedometer. Unplugged the Abbott and connected the two wires together (wire from pin 12 of CAB and wire to PCM) and speedo worked just fine. Reconnected Abbott and turned on switch 3 - no speedo. Turned 3 off and...

How to install Abbott-ERA speedometer correction.

Change from #1 t #12? I did not change the Abbott connection from CAB pin #1 to pin #12 - did I miss something in the instructions? I left the Abbott connected to the same place it has been for the past 3 years. Also, do you turn switch #3 or #4 on to boost input and output signals? Thanks...

How to install Abbott-ERA speedometer correction.

Hey guys, I have had the Abbott on my '99 since about August of 1999. It has corrected my speedo readings but I always have had 3 symptoms I didn't like: 1) ABS and Brake lights stay on for first 20 or 30 feet after first starting the engine and driving, then shut off. 2) Applying the brakes...

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Infinity Sound System

I stand corrected - the old noggin ain't what it used to be! I know my '97 with the Infinity system didn't come with tweeters.

1999 was the first year for tweeters in the A-pillar.

    2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Rancho Part #'s

I have a '99 QC 4x4 short bed and just ordered a set from Sam's Offroad www.samsoffroad.com and got the "buy 3, get 1 free" deal with free shipping. Under 2 bills for the whole deal. Shocks are on back order from Rancho and will be delivered in about 2 weeks. Can't remember the part numbers but...

    Stock front bumper source?

I had the opportunity to shorten the rear end of an S-10 pickup last night and did a smashing job. Long story short, jerk cut in front and took up my stopping space at a traffic light, I was pulling about 8K in an enclosed trailer. Damage was only to the front bumper, no sheet metal, grill...

    Auto transmission upgrades

Powell We went out of Bullfrog with a 60 footer and 3 ski boats in tow and went clear down past Dangling Rope to the Escalante (Balanced Rock area) then worked our way back during the week. Water was down approximately 56 ft from high water mark according to marina information. I don't know...

    Auto transmission upgrades

Input shaft Sorry, I didn't have a chance to get on-line the past couple of days. Jayson at Baker's got the transmission out on Friday and all of the splines on the input shaft are sheared off. Bill K. and Stefan were playing on Friday (good for them!) so they didn't get their new billet piece air...

    Auto transmission upgrades

FYI, Just had my transmission upgraded with DTT kit a couple of months ago (10K miles) and loved the results. This is a note to all of you considering the upgrade: If you are running over 350 hp or so (see sig for mods) I would recommend that you also have Bill's billet input shaft installed...

LED lights and rapid 'blink rate'

Back to the top with this one. I bought a pair of rear LED replacement bulbs (#3157) from Auto Zone over the weekend and installed them. As you noted the blink rate was very fast but I figured I would get the new flasher the next day and mod it per the instructions. That evening after dark I...
