    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Long block R&R time?

Thanks. This was a auto project. It took me 26 hours, and I had it running. It took another 12 hours to replace the cracked timing cover I missed... Not much fun taking the cam out because the gear is pressed on. I was just curious on how I did compared to what it is called for by the book...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Long block R&R time?

Anyone know what the flat rate time for removing and replacing a ISB long block is?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine Block 53

Do a search on 53 blocks on this site, and you will find more info then you want to know. I've personally seen two 53 blocks fail, and leak in the exact same place. I temporarly fixed my 53 bloc, but after5 monthes it started to leak again. By looking at it, it seams that it cooked the sealant...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Should I buy it?

If you plan on doing a bunch of mods to the truck the gauges are a good idea. If you simply want to do a couple things that are simple proven things, I would think twice about them. The reason I say this is the A pillar in the 94-02's are wide, and a huge blind spot. The gauges I've seen only...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Should I buy it?

Not all 98's had the 53 block. My buddies old 98 had a Mexico cast block in it. His old '99 and my '99 had 53 blocks though. I'm in the process of replacing it right now. Nice looking truck. It will last you a long time. Jeff

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Alarm for '99 CTD

Dang where should I have parked my truck a week ago? I wouldn't have to be replacing the 53 block this weekend then. A good thief will figure out ANY alarm system, and how to get around it.

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 53 block and MODS?

My '99 is all stock, and I pinned the block in Feb, and today I am picking up a replacement motor for the truck. The block started to leak again in July, and over this last weekend, I could see water pouring out the side. Jeff

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

Thanks Tim, I'll get in touch with those guys. Is the injector difference a size issue, or pressure that they will not work with my pump? So is the '02 swap a bad idea?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

Who is Marco, and how do I get ahold of him? Do I need to send in my ECM, and what is the turn around time on something like this? I probably have a extra ECM I could send before I do the swap. I need this to be a couple day thing start to finish. I told them I want the motor, and will be...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

Can I use the ECM from my motor with the HO '02 motor? What is different between the std motor and the HO?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

It is listed as a HO motor for a manual trans. I have a auto trans but if it can work and have some extra grunt, can I do it?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

Well, I did some calling around, and I came across a complete '02 motor with 52,000 miles, and they want $2500 for it. What can and can not be used from this motor? I think they use a different turbo, and injectors, but would it cause any problems using them?

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

Yes my 53 block has been cracked for at least a year now. We pulled it in Feb, and did the locknstitch repair to it, and it held for a while, in July it started to leak water again, and this last weekend it has gotten so bad that you can see the water pouring out the side of the block. It will...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Replacement for 53 block?

I need to replace the 53 block  in my '99 Ram. What years of donor long blocks will interchange? Will a 2001 block work, if I change over the injectors, and pump from my '99? Jeff

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Tach cutting out? cam sensor?

The tach in my '99 Ram is cutting out once in a while, and the check engine light comes on, but then will go off for a while if the tach does not cut out for a while. Is the tach run by a crank sensor, or a cam sensor? What can be causing this? The truck runs fine when the tach cuts out for a...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Another 53 block cracked

I did the Lock N Stitch repair to my 53 block a few weeks ago. No problems as of yet. It held 30psi when we tested it, and the repair went smoothly. The guy on the phone at Lock N Stitch was very helpful, and said if we had any questions, just call. It took us about 24 hours total for the...

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) new-to-us CTD with hesitation and white smoke, ideas?

How long has it been since the fuel filter was replaced? My '99 did the same thing all of a sudden. Poured out white smoke over 2000 rpm's, and basically shut the motor down after that. Replaced the filter, and have not had a problem since. Filters are cheap. Try that first. Jeff

    Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) EZ Edge & 4" Exhaust on '99 Ram

How much of a gain is there by adding just a EZ Edge box, and 4" Exhaust to a stock '99 CTD w/ auto? Who makes a decent priced 4" turbo back kit? Where is the best pricing on a EZ Edge? Thanks. Jeff
