    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Stupid 3GSK questions

Someone please correct me if i am wrong, but my understanding of the governor springs is that they simply control the rack movement. The higher the spring pressure (be it by more springs, more compression of the springs, etc. ), the more RPM you are going to have at any point in the throttle. In...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Stupid 3GSK questions

I still have the inner springs in mine, and they are tightened down 1 click from stock position (~. 070 of the stud sticking out) and I really like them.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) throttle

just curious... has anyone ever tried to puch their throttle pedal down when the truck wasnt running? i had a problem the other day with the fuel shutoff selenoid and the truck wouldn't start. when i tried to give it just a little fuel (before i realized what the problem was), the pedal was...

    Archived 98 won't turn off

I got the truck turned off and i am now in the process of replacing the fuel shutoff selenoid (that is an expensive part!). selenoid will not fully engage, thus only opening the valve part way (explaining why it was so hard to start). I am not sure why my pedal was so hard either, i see no...

    Archived 98 won't turn off

Truck was hard to crank. i usually give a little fuel on the startup and the pedal was extremely hard to push down. It started right when it occured to me that something was actually wrong, and it wouldn;t turn off. I got the battery cables off quick but i guess it kept running on alternator...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Yet another hunting transmission thread

I had the same problem with my '98 about a year ago (around 150k). I replaced the TPS and the problem was instantly solved. Pretty steep price from the dealer, however - I believe it was something around $240... There is probably a rebuild kit for these pieces, but i just bought the whole piece...

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) kdp ?s

on a side note, does anyone know the size of the replacement bolt that is sold in the KDP repair kit? i know it is a little longer than stock, but I am getting ready to fix my dad's truck and he already bought the front seal - so i don't want to buy the kit. is the longer bolt really necessary?

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Timing question

I'll probably end up at 16* then. Thanks for your input fellas.

    Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Timing question

I want to adjust the timing on my '98 CTD. I have a 180 pump and my stock timing is 14*. I have read that for a stock truck, there is no benefit in advancing timing beyond 15*... but i have some modifications, as you can see in my profile - #6 BD plate, 4 inch exhaust, 191 delivery valves, 3K...

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Turbo silncer ring (in or out)?

Mine is gone, and like jhewitt said, it sounds like it spools faster... seemed to lose some of the smoke from a dead stop.
