Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 01 2500 steering gearbox - no remanufactured

Hello, All

I'm trying to locate a steering gearbox for a 2001 2500.

My father wants an OEM factory original - No Remanufactured.

Does anyone know of one thats available - even if its from a wrecked vehicle preferrably one with low miles.

Having no luck on the net - everything is remanufactured.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No experience with them but they claim to be new boxes. I've yet to see Genos carry anything with a questionable reputation, so its probably a decent box. 3 yr unlimited mileage warranty.

Right, that's good advice above if you don't want a reman unit. I had one on my old truck and it was nice with the tighter turn ratio. My current ride I got a redhead which is reman, but they do a great job too. I ordered my borgeson from genos years ago and it was a good experience.

The best steering gear I ever had for a 2nd Gen came from RedHead but they are a rebuilt unit.
I had no issues with either truck after they were installed and both trucks drove fantastic.

I spoke Dad and explained that he needed to remember that his truck was 13 yrs old, and its going to be virtually impossible to find a NEW gearbox.
Everything I've prices on the net is 'reman' and going for about $ 517.00
So, just for grins I took his VIN and went to the dealer - have not found out who reman their gearbox's, but I can get a reman gearbox for #300.00 plus $100.00 deposit for core exchange.
I'll probably get him to take the dealer gearbox. For him it will do fine, He only drives into town once a week to shop and go to medical appts.
No long hauls trips for him, being that he's 85.
