Is it just me. But are all dodge trucks front ends so weak. My 93 has had the front end rebuilt twice in eight years. And now the 03 That I bought in march this year is in need of upper control arms and bushings. Is there not a way to replace the upper ball joints without having to pay 275 to 300 dollars for them.

It has got 399850 miles but I do not know if anything has ever been done to it or not. I bought the truck in april

i used the moog uppers on my 03. They where about $130 a piece from Rockauto.com. The moog part number is k7462. They are also greasable.

Why would the control arms themselves need replacing? Did somebody jump it:eek:

Did you really mean almost 400,000 miles???? That might explain why some parts need replacing:)

Even in pretty heavy use I think the 3rd gen front ends hold up really well. My '06 4x4 with 86k miles has had ball joints done, but thats not so bad is it? The 2nd gens had front end issues on the 4x4s, I witnessed a scary death wobble incident on the highway once, scary stuff. Other than the ball joints going earlier than they really should, I think they are pretty tough. The Cummins is seriously heavy, really too close to the axles capacity for my tastes but using a heavier axle would certainly add cost among other issues.

As a matter of fact. The truck rolled over to 400000 last weekend. as of today it has 400560 miles on it and still going strong. . I surely do love Dodge trucks
