Hey,

so I am posting this both as a way for other owners to get an idea of what to do to their trucks and also to get suggestions from you guys to see if I am missing anything in my plan. I don’t really have a timeline for all of this but it’s all about the process am I right? Anyway so here is what I plan to do with my 3rd gen:

first of all, the first thing I did was do an oil change and fuel filter change. I know I wanted 5 micron filtration so I went with the Bilstein 7977 filter.

next was a new fleet guard air filter from Geno’s and I cut out the bottom of the stock air box (aka Swiss cheese it).

Next I plan to do an 08 upgrade on the front end with Mopar ball joints, unless the sockets look like they need oversized ones, then I will go with EMF joints. Add a new steering stabilizer and u-joints.

after that take care of my trans. General maintenance plus some upgrades to protect me from future upgrades (my truck is an automatic)

Then I want to delete the muffler
Add gauges: EGT, boost, trans temp and fuel pressure
Then put in a FASS lift pump
And lastly do a Smarty Jr tune on it.

What do you guys think? Any advice helps!

Sounds like you have a good plan. On your exhaust, you can get a Diamond Eye 4" straight back but they are rather throaty and under a pull nearly unbearable. I went with a straight through 24" muffler and a 18" resonator. It sounds really good and has just the right deep roar under a hard pull.

I went with a Smarty SO6 #7 tune with no timing adjustment. It's right at 400 HP which will ensure reliable power and longevity. I also has an Edge CTS Insight display to monitor EGT, TFT, ECT, Voltage and boost.

For your transmission, contact Jon at Dynamic Transmission and have him hook you up with one of his custom valve bodies. You will not be sorry!

I used isspro gauges on my old 04.5. I bought a 5" dp and hung a fte resonator on it. great sound and no drone. ran a smarty sr it's entire life on sw7 tmg3 rp4. was a fantastic truck.
