George,

Where did you find these gauges? Specifically the Westach fuel pressure/trans temp combo gauge.

I used Westach gauges in my last truck ('01') and really liked them.

Thanks,

David

David, call Westach and tell them your dream. If they can do it you can order direct or through our TDR advertisers (and get some install guidance appropriate for our trucks) or a shop can order them and install them for you (which is my tact). George

The only way I can see that the new injectors would yield a 4. 6 MPG increase is if the OEM injectors were defective to begin with, which has been the case in some trucks.

If you all want a contact (mentioned in this thread) call Josh at Dishman Dodge in Spokane WA for an update. They are involved with the product. I am gauging up and intend to install soon. Not a big priority... working out my T-rex suspension (mini-paks on Tues) and my flatbed. Just busy... . George

Injector mileage increase

No Ken,

They said 4 to 6 mpg. Personally, I am extremely skeptical of such large claims. I could believe 1-2.

I spoke with Chad from DPU today and he told me that all the trucks with their injectors installed get right about 20 mpg. [19. 8 - 20. 8]

My combined average is 16. 8, he told me that I could expect to see 20. 0.

Said they sell a large number of these every week and they have about a 2 week order backlog. That most folks who order from a distance away sit on their old injectors for 5 days while they try the new as there is a satisfaction guarantee--if you don't like the new send 'em back for a refund. Of course the in and out labor with the old injectors is on you.

Said they have also been experimenting with various electronic boxes plus their injectors and that the boxes provide increased performance but so far no further increase in mileage.

According to Chad, no mods are needed to the truck with ONLY their injectors, but if you add the injectors plus a box then you need to add a pyro, and beef up the clutch or make changes in the auto transmission.

He was surprised to hear that with all the units sold, no one has posted comments here about their results.

20 mpg is it.

Nope, not according to what Chad told me. 20. 8mpg was the best mileage he mentioned.

He told me that he had trucks in the 13-14 mpg range and in the 16-17 mpg range before the DPU injectors and that both groups of trucks were at 20 mpg after the DPU injectors.

Unfortunately, people that have just spent $'s on injectors to get better mileage are perhaps going to drive differently after the install and voila! I'm trying to keep an open mind here but there is NO WAY a truck can go from a 13-14 mpg average to over 20 with only an injector change. Never mind the 100 hp and no EGT part.

JPalese, in your first example the math works out to 3. 2mpg. A little hard for me to believe, but close to the 1-2 that I said might be possible. 6 or even 7mpg?!? I don't think so. Not unless one or more of the stock injectors were pooched.

I guess it doesn't matter, since I have gotten 20. 2mpg before, I guess I wouldn't gain anything! ;)

I think that's the key right there... if the injectors are indeed the major cause of the poor mileage in a good number of the 600's, then this seems like it could be feasible. I'd like to see one of those people that have had all of their injectors replaced with factory ones and are still getting bad mileage to try these injectors instead. If their mileage suddenly jumps to 20mpg, then I'd say we definitely have a miracle cure here.

Please don't misunderstand, I am NOT advertising or advocating for this product. I'm just a guy with a truck that gets almost 4mpg less than I expected, and I'd dearly like to recover that.

A friend traded his loaded new 600 Laramie Quad Cab for the equivelent used Ford 6. 0 and gets 24 mpg in normal driving.

He's happy and I am scratching my head, wondering how to reach the 20 mpg mark. Maybe my buddy had the solution to the poor mileage?

No worries,

I'm just throwing in my 2 cents worth because I would hate to see someone spend their hard earned cash expecting a 4,6 or 7 mpg increase only to find it falls short of thier expectations. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys out their getting less than optimal mileage. What we really need at this point IMO is;

- 1) accurate before and after dyno results on a stock 600 (preferably more than one)

- 2) a dozen or so unbiased TDR member MPG result comparisons and EGT testing.

cheers,

Dave

Here is my plan. I am aiming for 3rd weekend in August with a dyno bash in Spokane. I intend to have my gauges up and pre-dyno on Friday Aug 20, install injectors and re-dyno. I wish I had 20K on the truck before all this. I will monitor actual fuel before and after.

BTW, the mileage claims have been on 03 and 04's! George
