04.5?

Here is my plan. I am aiming for 3rd weekend in August with a dyno bash in Spokane. I intend to have my gauges up and pre-dyno on Friday Aug 20, install injectors and re-dyno. I wish I had 20K on the truck before all this. I will monitor actual fuel before and after.

BTW, the mileage claims have been on 03 and 04's! George

George, is your truck a 04. 5?

If not, would the data that you gather necessarily apply to the 04. 5s as the powerplant is so different than the 03/04?

Yes, mine is an 04. 5 and I understand the claims are similar. Just saying that the majority of development was pre 600's to answer another question. Apparently it works for 600's as well. George

On the Two Guys Garage show about the 04. 5 Cummins it was mentioned that a 5-hole injector with larger holes is used on the 04. 5s as compared to an 8-hole on the 04s.

So wouldn't the 04. 5s with an injector with more, but smaller holes, be prime for improved mpgs?

They don't have a core charge, so part of the reason they are this expensive is because they use new injectors all the way, unlike what is typically done (rework used injectors).

I don't know if they've changed their policy since you spoke to them but I just got off the phone with Scott and he said that he'd ship a set to me in Virginia for $1800. 00 PLUS a $1200. 00 core charge. Thats $3000. 00 tied up until they receive the stock injectors. I'm pretty sure that I didn't misunderstand, especially when he told me to be careful with the stock injectors as they have received some that were damaged either when removed or in shipment and that affects the $1200. 00 they've got you tied up for. I'm tempted, but that's a hell of a lot of money tied up.

Don~ is extrude honing the stock injectors. The deal is you remove your injectors and send them off to be reworked.

There is no core charge but the truck will be down for a couple of days.

Its being done now.

No, I have Dons Mach 2. 4's in my 01 , but there are several trucks running his common rail injectors.

I believe the ones mentioned in this thread are extrude hone. correct? just curious

I think you are right about extruded honed tips... I believe Josh told me that at BD Dyno Days. I am installing an X Monitor which uses the Chrysler temp wire from the transmission. I will be pre-turbo on EGT and intend to install a set of these injectors Aug 20. We shall see... . and if they don't make me happy out they come! George

still no info yet? i know someone with a 600 that installed these inj. this afternoon that gets 12mpg empty. i will try to take for spin tomorrow and will post results not to mention a update in a coulpe days on his mpg gain if there is one.

anyone else with results yet?

So, any word on when he'll have the 3G EDM's up and running? I thought they were supposed to be done by now? I sure like the pricing better than the $1800 that was mentioned for these extruded ones. :--)

because the core issue on common rail injectors are so sketchy, Don~ is only willing to do extrude hone injectors from a truck with no issues.

The price is way less :)

Bob, please help me understand this. Are you saying F1 diesel is currently extrude honing 3g injectors? Is the plan to offer EDMs for the 3g's still in the works? Sorry if I missed somthing :)

Bob,

As far as the EDM's go, will he build a set if you already have a good set of spare cores or are they just "still in the works".

my truck is an 01
