Will someone please post some dyno results?

To quote my supervisor at work...

"A little less I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER chat and a little more get at"

Why would any company not advertise a product like these injectors without hard proof?

Not that I don’t believe it to be possible that they could deliver what they promise, but I will not plop down two grand without cold hard numbers.

So now the price has gone from $1800 with no core charges to $1800 plus they want the old injectors back. Why did they suddenly decide they wanted the old injectors when the other day they didn't want anything to do with them since they only start with new injectors?

They haven't published numbers yet becasue:

1) There aren't any (readily repeatable numbers) yet, testing is still ongoing.

or

2) They have the data and it's not as good as they hoped.

or

3) If they did they couldn't produce them fast enough to meet demand.

Pick one.

Well that's interesting, $1200 core charge? I did not discuss DYI prices with him and when I was asking about the old injectors I got the impression he wasn't that interested in them. So I am going to check up on this.

Hey Blake nice ride buddy! I like your rig  Thanks for letting me dust off the ricer :D And he thought he could pull in ahead of us. HA!

Blake's truck runs real strong, with the DPU injectors and EZ blowing through a B1. It puffs nice with a throttle jab but clears right up. It spools well. When I was making sure the ricer pulled in behind us the tires broke loose in 2nd Gear.

To be honest I wish I could try a set of injectors for a week and really put them to the test. EGTs, MPG, drivability, smoke and power. And dyno with them. . . not on DPU's but someone else's. I would give the 100hp injectors a try. Then report back like flyfisha said, write it up.

If I were to choose an injector today with what I know about them, I would go with Don's EDM units. Don has been very open about his testing and development process and he has nothing to hide. DD has been fairly open about their injectors as well and have a great track record. Because of this I would also pick them above the DPU injectors.

The DPU injectors look promising but they need more of a track record than a few sketchy reports. It will take some guys who are willing to spend the $$ on a set then put them though their paces and do an objective and scientific analysis of them and document the findings so that we have some concrete data. Until that happens we have nothing else than a vendor's advertising claims.

Did some finguring': with an increase from 17 mpg to 20mpg (about 16%) it would take me 120,000 miles of driving to make up just the $ outlay for the injectors. Not including installation charge. A little much to justify!

If you are already planning on buying injectors, and these do waht they say, then you would only have to figure the difference in prices of these injectors vs. or other's brand to recoupe the cost in mileage savings. Then, these would give the extra power, too. I'm with others, though. I will wait for CONFIMRED results before forking over the moola.

The math can be messed up based on desire to have what the product offers. We rationalize things. My rationalization uses this math... claimed 4-6 mpg means using 5 mpg. My best mpg is in the 14's. My math says 30% increase. Using 50K miles equating to 3,333 gallons at $2. 20 is $7,333 to pay for that fuel. The costs of the injectors are absorbed by 50K. The prices won't be coming down and are equivilant to the prices (actually less) I paid for my car in 1966 when inflation is considered. Still the cheapest in the world of dependent oil nations. And it may go higher. An extra 90 to 100 hp is ok too. George

Heres an interesting question too... .

With all the talk about injectors getting gummed up with crud from the fuel. And with better atomization of the fuel... Does that mean the injector is more prone to get gummed up and utimately end up costing fuel milage???

Guess only 50k of milage will tell the tale :D

As for my mistake about the $1000 under invoice. I was reading fast that day and was thinking it meant on the injectors. As I reread it and realized what invoice they are talking about... DUH :D

I want to see what happens with this thread. I have added up the fuel usage at 14 mpg and 19 mpg and the payback is less than 40,000 miles with diesel at $2. 00 per gallon. The payback would be much faster if diesel were to climb to $2. 20/gallon. So if any numbers come in, I would be very interested in knowing.

I will probably pick up my truck in Spokane in July, so the timing would be excellent. Pay it now, or pay a whole lot later.

I intend to follow-through with these injectors and will make a study of it. Have to install my gauges... have the dyno run done (250 rwhp at BD). Need a little time... busy guy. George

I know some mix filtered WVO/WEO with their diesel fuel. I'm interested in doing this myself. So...

Here's some questions for discussion for those using WVO or WEO.

The assumption is that the injectors have more and smaller holes to provide better atomization...

What impact does the increased viscosity of the oil/diesel fuel mixture have on the the ability of the mixture to pass through the smaller holes?

What is the potential for an increase in rail pressure, however slight, due to the more viscous liquid being forced through the smaller holes?

If there is any notable increase in rail pressure, what potential would there be for the pressure box to unknowningly cause the rail pressure to reach or exceed the limits of the fuel system?

Here's how I see it. The rail pressure is maintained by the CP3 high pressure pump. That pump is controlled via the ECM based on readings it takes from a rail pressure sensor. Because the rail is little more than a reservoir of high pressure fuel with 6 spillways (injectors) the pressure will always be maintained. If anything the pressure should go down when an injector is opened because it allows fuel to escape. With this system we're no longer pressureizing fuel for each firing event individually.

Did any body but a set?

Just wondering if anyone actuallly bought a set of these modified injectors and how they work... do they increase mileage as advertised?

Hi George:

Just trying to keep this topic towards the top of the list. IMHO, this has the best potential for the biggest mpg increase in the 600.

Any news to report about the miracle injectors yet?

Regards,

Grasshopper aka John

I am still trying to get my gauges together! Struggling with wanting four and needing two. Talking with Westach about a dual egt/boost and a transmission temp/fuel pressure. Playing phone tag right now. I will assure you that I intend to hunt this thing down and kill it. It seems like an awesome thing to me if all we hear is 80% valid! George

Hi George:

Just wondered if there were any new developments yet?

Sincerely,

Grasshopper

GH... check through this thread for contact information and try the sources. I am still working on getting my project together. George

I found a set of dual gauges and now need to order and install. Westach has a set of boost/EGT and fuel pressure/tran temp which keeps my gauges down to a nice couple. I want to install gauges before adding injectors. George
