The recall has been out for a while now... they replace the front transmission line with one that has a hose in it to isolate vibrations sent to the fluid heat exchanger. The solid line has been known to cause breaks in the fluid exchanger which could lead to even more trouble if you don't catch it right away.

No rack on the 03's but the box has a quicker steering ratio than the 02's

The '04 4x2's have rack and pinion steering. I thought the '03's were the same.

Could be... I was thinking 4x4. I know the 1500 4x4's have the rack.

Yep, all the 3rd gen(2003 and later) 4x2s have rack and pinion steering. It's great too!!! Our '03 3500QC LWB DRW 4x2 turns a tighter circle than our '00 GMC Jimmy 4DR. :D

Unbelievable... a big diesel dually 4-door truck turning shorter than a little SUV!

03 and 04 3500's in 4x2 have rack and pinon steering 2500's in 4x2 or 4x4 have new and improved steering ratios but no rack and pinon. That's straight from Dodge's mouth.

Don't know what I have (03 2500 4X4 LB) but I do know it turns like a battleship!!!! It takes a 3 point turn to park at wal-mart!! And forget about parking spaces close to the door, have to park way out. But I still like it!:D John

I'd like to see that reference. I have an '04 2500 4x2 and I promise you, it has rack & pinion steering.

The 4x2's should be rack and pinion as they are IFS.

The 4x4 uses the "recirculating" ball setup. I am not certain a rack setup would even work with a straight axle frontend.
