I agree with that to a certain extent... I've never really been a big Dodge fan in the past, but I've always loved the Cummins. I've always been more of a Chevy fan as far as trucks go, and i think the previous generation Ford Super Dutys are the best looking truck on road; and I'm still a fan of the 7. 3 PSD. (although not as much as I used to be)

BUT, I absolutely LOVE the Cummins, and it is by far the best diesel in the light truck market. And to be honest, I've been extremely pleased with my '03. The build quality is 50x better than my dad's '92 dually CTD, and the motor is also feels 50x stronger, even though mine is just the standard output. This truck has really changed my opinion of Dodges, I'm happy to say. But I still continue to tell this to people that aren't Dodge fans... "I bought my truck for the Cummins, not because it was a Dodge, and if Chevy had a Cummins, then I'd get a Chevy, etc".

No problem Bill I had one of those 6. 0L and they are fast when they run. Twice as fast as my CTD.

OK... . so that means if your 6. 0 Ford runs a 16 second 1/4 mile, that would mean that your Cummins runs a 32 second 1/4 mile... Guess you had better turn it back in to the dealer, you got a lemon! :-laf

:-{} Gents and Ladies (If there are any out there)

I had an 04 6. 0 Powerstroke, Bullydogged,(intake, exhaust and chip) and it was a screamer! However the turbo leaked oil, the trans bled and the heads went at 42,000. I bought a CTD 2005 and I have pulled heavier and more reliably since. Never in shop until today. I think I will test the limits of the CTD. Twin turbos, TST box, 80hp injectors, complete extreme rebuild of the 48re with suncoast parts. HP exhaust and intake. I had two 2005 CTD at first and have found the 48re to be much quicker than the 6spd. Higher top end as well. I personally have seen 110mph out of the stock auto and 96mph out of the manual.

I raced a stock 05 F350 4X4 6. 0 auto at the street legal drags last Saturday.

The Ford was no match. I beat him easily by 2-3 truck lengths. They were not running clocks so I have no time slips. My speed was 88 mph and the guy driving the Ford said he hit 80 mph.

I had the 04 Ford prior to current truck. As far as I know no power changes in the Ford 04-05. I use a G-tech to measure my trucks. I found the 05 Dodge auto to be a fraction of a second faster than the Ford auto in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Earlier Dodges (I had some) were not a match to the 6. 0 Ford stock to stock.

Racing the new Fords side by side has confirmed. It makes for an interesting race. The Fords are quicker off the line because it has a five speed auto with a deeper first gear. The Cummins reels it back in and passes; up through 80 mph or so; usually about then the Ford starts gaining because the 6. 0 loves to rev. Next thing you know the Ford hits the speed limiter and it's all over.

All testing done in comparable trucks- 4 door 4x4 3. 73 autos, stock tires, etc.

But don't knock the Fords. That engine loves to rev, and with more gear ratios, it will eat anything on a hill climb with a heavy load. no matter what the speed, it will be in the power band.

Diesel trucks are for pulling, not racing. If you want to race - buy the Hemi

Now you've gone and done it. Better get your flame suit on.

Go easy on him folks, he's new.

THorton, all marketing hype aside, the diesel spanks the hemi. Stock. And modified it's even worse.

I just beat a Powerstroke going uphill from a stoplight. Both trucks not loaded. He was running a manual like me. Man his exhuast was LOUD! I liked it. Makes my Aeroturbine sound like a puny rice rocket.

It was fun though. Windows were down. My wife was covering both ears. My 21 month old duaghter was in the back seat chanting,"BAAAAAAWWWWWWWW". Put a big a grin in my face when I was taking the lead.

I just wasted a 2500 Duramax yesterday. He was pulling a very light utility trailer, maybe 500 lbs with nothing in it. Anyway, we turned the corner, he was right on my bumper... Just as I had about completed the turn, I spooled her up and as soon as I hit 10 lbs of boost, the TST kicked in set on 44... I pulled away from him at a decent clip. I pretty much think that was telling as my truck probably weighed about 2,000 lbs more than his. I could see him in the rear view mirror chugging out smoke trying his hardest... I bet he was surprised :-laf

I have known stock 3rd Gen's to lose to hemi's in a race, although only by a few truck lengths. But with a few simple mods we will blow their doors off. I got into it with a hemi climbing a steep long grade, I was pulling an empty equipment trailer, I use for a bobcat skid loader. I walked right away from him, to his amazement... wish you could have seen the look on his face!
