Ford F350 W/Cummins Shift prob. Manual

we are documenting everything with photos etc - it looks like there may be some repercussions :-{} legally from the owner against that shop. it is UNBELIEVABLE the things we have found and fixed - even you wouldn't believe it Dave, such as exhaust pipe for intercooler tubes, hose clamped to the wrong size hose. the motor mount on one side was almost completely ripped apart, that would have been an ugly mess. I could go on for 3 pages-OMG!!!!!! its HORRIBLE!!!!! :--) it's just a good thing we got him up here now, there is so much that was about to turn disasterous very shortly if too many more miles were put on it. there is gonna be a list of little things he can do when he gets home also, there is no way we will have time, he is coming on friday.

Maybe this will be explanation enough to www.fordcummins.com that I will "talk behind his back on this forum" as much as I can. If one person is prevented from getting burned by him with his shoddy work, so be it. Hope the owner of the truck drags him into a consumer affairs court case. Its the least that is deserved at this point #@$%! . (go ahead Roger, flame me again, try the innocent victim routine this time  )

Too bad the owner is so in need of the truck evidently, I'd leave it as is and have the Montana Dept of Labor and industry or the State Attorney's office get involved before changing anything. Civil suits are good, but getting charges filed on it would be a whole lot better!!!

You guys do great work but what is the matter with steel intercooler pipes?. . mummn . . I use aluminum mandel bends for exhaust tubing when I make my intercooler pipes. . steel tubing is steel tubing. . do they sell intercooler tubing?. . unless you want to spend more $ for aluminum and polish em and tig weld em steel is cheaper and alumunized and painted seems to last pretty long time... what else is the other shop doing...

keep up the great work and show some pics of the offending parts...

thanks,

Deo

Steel exhaust pipe rusts and flakes off into the intake, at least aluminized tubing is only effected at the tig welding connections and elbow ends ;) Its all about longevity and pride in ones work. I would be pretty upset if I paid the money these conversions cost to have a rust flake break loose and get sucked into the engine. If you think about how hot the turbo side of the innercooler lines can get on a turned up engine, you'll get a batter idea of the oxidation issues. This is just one reason not to use it, not all.

dave is right, we do make our intercooler tubes, out of stainless steel and use the correct type/size of hose. trying to squeeze a piece of exhaust pipe down with a hose clamp doesn't quite work. today we found the battery cable mess. two pieces mated togeather by shoving ends togeather in a brass battery cable end and HAMMERED closed, not even soldered. it had a covering over it that there were melted spots - now we know why... needless to say, new battery cables were built. the list goes on.....

I thought i would bring this thread back to life. I have Ricks truck in the shop building twins as we speak. This thing is going to be tight with the heater/ac box in the way. But i have a game plan. I hope to figure out how to post pics soon. This is going to be a great challange.

I will be installing a k31 with a 58mm s300. The spoolup has to be instant with good egt relief. I will mod the s300 to spool even quicker. Should work great with the fueling level that he has.

Ponci, are those the same chargers ATS is using in their twin setup? If so I know a guy who has those chargers in a Superduty right now. He had to make a custom compressor housing with a 90 outlet to get away from the shock tower and heater box.

Just got off the phone with Rick. He still has the truck. As matter of fact he running down the road with 42000lbs and cant break 1200 degrees on any hill with the comp on level 3 with lennys 150hp injectors at 42 psi of boost. If i can figure out how to post pics i will.

Man oh man, I can't imagine running that kind of boost on a daily driver. The highest I've ever pushed mine is 30lbs which was too much to stomach as it was.

Did he scale at 42,000 lbs with the truck or is this his load? CA DOT must be getting soft these days :D I was chased down by them for much less than this when We were out in Sacto 2 years ago.

I don't think he'll be selling that truck anytime soon. In fact, he just put a real nice cowl induction style hood on it. Looks sharp. I don't know who Greg heard that from.

Brad - If you can't get some pics loaded let me know and I'll post some for ya!

Update -

Diesel Power Magazine just had a photographer here this weekend to do a photo shoot. Look for it in the April issue of Diesel Power Magazine.
