Ford F350 W/Cummins Shift prob. Manual

I am a PacBrake distributer so we are putting together a custom remote mount 4" PRXB. Between the brake and a US Gear overdrive he is going to have a lot of gears and should be able to keep her under control. Around herewe don't have a lot of serious hills, but we do have crazy drivers. At least he stepped up to the F-550 instead of pulling with his 05 3500 4x4.

I know all too well the lunatics you have on your roads in the Sacto area. I was out your way summer of '04 on a shotcrete airform job. I took my Volvo due to the amount of equipment I had to bring to the jobsite and packed a CJ and a Yamaha Dual sport into the back of the trailer. No matter which of the three vehicles I drove, I was white knuckled at nearly every intersection hoping to not get "T" boned. (My biggest fear was not getting hit by someone, but having the typical CHP or DOT ape cut me apart for being somehow indirectly at fault such as blaming my brakes for inadequate for the load, that's why the Dodge stayed at home ;) ). No question that ANYTHING with a bigger frame and discs than a dodge is a step up. The brakes on every year dodge truck to date are still my # 1 reason to justify repowers into the heavier class ford's or stepping up to a Class 7 truck. It really is dissapointing that Daimler has even let the stopping power issue go unchecked. I guess their more concerned about keeping their Mercedes customers alive than their Chrysler owners, The brakes I've seen on the European Sprinter vans are bigger than most of the Ram years!!!! Go figure.

Idiots in CA!

I live outside of stockton a half hour and an hour south of sac. The people on the road are idiots, I mean the worst drivers on the road and if they make a mistake and you honk at them, they give you the middle finger salute and start cussing at you. Some of the most incosiderate people ever driving around here. When Im done with college, I am done with CA and all the license restrictions and everything too :{

Didnt mean to hijack - hows the conversion coming??

well, here we go, the powerstroke is on the ground and we are fitting the cummins in, ken is building motor mounts (for THIS truck, super-dooper ones) with the ats manifold, fass fuel pumps, HUGE turbo, banks intercooler - this babys gonna have some HORSEPOWER - things are going well, we had to tear the interior out to tip the cab back to get the powerstroke out so that took some time, the flatbed looks like a parts department... . LOL :D

pictured below the powerstroke coming out and the cummins being dry fitted. :--)

yeah the drivers are crazy around hear i live in modesto and am glade i own a big pickup and not some little car

that looks like an awesome conversion keep us posted

.,.

WOW. . Dawna, that Cummins looks small in that engine compartment compared to the old boat anchor  . . lol also @ "HUGE turbo" that's going on it... that Phat Shaft 62 is actually a fairly small turbo :p ... looks great, i will tell Rick to check these pics out!

Talk about making a guy homesick. (My toolbox used to be on the wall along side the passengers door of that truck). It sure would be nice to be there now, I miss MT more each passing week. Great Falls isn't perfect, but compared to Montgomery, its paradise. This city is a hole.

Keep up the good work, wasting no time getting things together on this one I see.

Is the frame section the same on the f-450/550 series as the 250/350 for placement? Judging by your comment about jacking the cab up to get the v-8 out, it can't bee too much different. I thought the cabs sat higher on the heavier frames, must just be the suspension and wheels.

Looks good so far, keep up the awesome work. I can't wait to see and drive this truck. Rick is one of my best customers as he is always doing something to a truck. I am very excited to see how this conversion works out, both on the install side and the practicallity of it. Like greg said, that is really a fairly small turbo, they only get bigger from there. A special thanks goes out to Industrial Injection for supplying such a seriuos get er done turbo! I must say, as a supplier it is awesome to see my products being put to use in such a project. I am truly proud!

PS - there are 2 stacks there!

Well after 3 days of measuring, fitting, marking, cutting and welding ken has finished his "HIGH HORSEPOWER" motor mounts for this project. He built these on a large subplate with double insulators and double mounts. In order to get this engine to sit in the proper position, the passenger side mounts are longer. They are not painted yet, and he will still do some finessing on the slots and they are not bolted down but here are some pictures, the first pix is the drivers side and the next 2 are the passenger side and the next back to the drivers side. then there is a pix of the proto-passenger side on the bench. The last picture is the proto of the regular (single mount) passenger side. Final pix will be on the website in the next couple days and be ready for sales. We got the new input shaft for the monster transfer case this Ford came with, Tom our transmission guy has it and along with some bearings and seals will have it prepped to be mated up with the NV5600. We will have it back tomorrow - and then will start the final install of the motor, trans and transfer case (after John comes over) - pictures to come as we go!!! Rick called today, he is very excited! John Romenesko from Rocky Mtn Truck Service will be over with his "tool" to change the injectors from the stock ones to the ones Rick brought (not sure what they are - Diesel Nut??)to install in the morning so heeeere we go, we are getting excited too, this thing is gonna be a monster!!!

injectors

WOW. . i love the double mounts! you know he's gonna try to break those don't you? :p :-laf

The injectors going in are from Formula 1 Diesel made by Don Morrison out of Dallas Texas. . they are his Mach 3. 8's {for now,for towing}. . maybe larger sticks later for sled pulling!

i would think if he even gets near breaking these things the motor would come apart first... . LOL - they are EXTREMELY beefy. they are painted black and it is set in there now.

the motor is bolted in now, the mounts are now black, nice and clean looking... . the transfer case has been converted to accept the NV5600 and they are all bolted togeather after having a couple clearance issues, it has to be "perfect" you know.

now we can start the finish work..... the hard part... lol.

So will these engine mounts work with previous SD/Excursion models. Hint hint. Gonna give the V10 an eviction notice if you know what I mean :D

the mounts in this one are the quad-high horse power set, they won't be needed normally LOL, but yes we do have the single mount 99/06 SD set now, that is pictured in a couple posts above and on our website.

dawn :D a
