Ford F350 W/Cummins Shift prob. Manual

So were the quad mounts needed? Has there been issues with the rubbers pulling apart? I have the same rubber mounts on my conversion, just wondering what you guys think the hp limit is for the single mount and why? Also have you guys done a twin setup in a superduty. thanks

This is a F550 Super Duty - the reason we put the quad mounts in here is that Rick will be using this for his business - pulling a big trailer and equipment - the injectors have been upgraded, it has a huge turbo and is getting a Banks Intercooler System,

Fass Fuel Pump, Edge so he is going to be putting this thing to the test, just a little insurance... . you need to know Rick, huh guys?! He brought his trailer with his 02 Dodge

when he brought it up here, left the trailer and will be back with the truck so i expect he will give it a workout on the way home... . LOL

Also, in order to have the engine clocked @ the correct degrees with the differential, one side of the mounts are at a slightly different angle, you can see that if you look closely at the picture of them on the bench above. We have never had the rubber mounts pulling apart (we dont use the Dodge ones), theres 400,000 miles on our truck and they look fine - we work ours pretty hard too.

It would be hard to put a HP limit on the mounts, i guess we'll have to wait til someone tears them apart... . lol

I am impressed with your attention to detail. If we ordered these trucks new but did not want to pay for the diesel option from Ford, how hard or more expensive is it to put a cummins in a V10 truck? If we were to get a manual transmission V-10, does it make it any harder or more expensive to put a cummins in it? I would assume that the ZF6 from Ford can mate to the cummins? Thanks. .

Andrew

it depends on what motor we put in and transmission - we usually don't use the ZF as in the one we are doing (NV5600), the cummins has very low end torque... the advantage to buying a manual ford is not having to put in pedals. :) - it's not a matter of it being "hard" to do, its just ALOT of work, fabrication and details. it takes us a good 150 hours and we have done it a few times..... :) if you are interested in a quote, give me a call and we'll talk it over.

progress report!

the fass fuel pump system is now installed. we ordered a larger turbo outlet, (old one pictured next to it in one photo) should have some good air flow into the intercooler (banks) - pictures attached! guages are in, got the new drivelines back today - they go in tomorrow, ready to start closing it in!! details, details... .

yogafist guy needs an education on fordcummins.com

When I used to work for Kenny, I remember the calls and emails every day from guys screaming about his rotten mounts etc that have to be thrown in the trash ( he has a NO RETURN policy which we would NEVER do!!) and reordered from Kenny in the end, its just SICKENING and he's a preacher!!!????

fyi, Fordcummins.com (roger) ordered his first set of mounts (which he copied of course-musta lost the correct pattern over the last 2 years) on JAN 3, 2002 - boy those three years of "experience" has made him an expert-huh???

Dawna,

Think you and Kenny really need to address this issue on here, it is only looked at from others like I have a bad attitude towards your "competition", unfortunately, it isn't doing anything to help the customers or prospective buyers who look at my posts as just ranting. A confirmation here about your past knowledge of this subject may be needed to put this to rest once and for all.

I'm getting slammed off forum by a few people over this, could I care? not really, not in the least. I do think more than anything, a reality check to those who don't know the history on this is in order from you or Kenny. Not for the sake of throwing mud, but for the truth of what has set me off from the day I read TDR posts on this for the first time. I remember vividly the customers in your shop asking for help after starting with roger's "advice" and parts.

To those here in the repower forum who doubt the truth of this, feel free to give Dawna or Kenny a call. I'm sure off forum, you'll get lots of referals from customers who asked for their help half way through their projects when nothing was done "elsewhere". I know for a FACT they have invoices to back it up.

Looking forward to seeing your work on this f-550 project, any pics soon?... .

Hey Karvarnis. 1. Kenny and Dawna have too much class to address it on this forum, from what I've picked up from their posts so far. . 2. Nobody really cares about Roger's percieved short comings. . 3. You need a hobby dude, or a girlfriend or something. Surely there must be something to do down there in Alabama- try cat fishing or something. . 4. Quit embarrasing Dawna and Kenny. . Any questions?

Just one, is it impossible for you to copy/paste a username? or did you purposefully butcher my last name it to insult me?...

Funny you should bring this back up, Dawna was laughing when she read the post I put up, because it's all true. They deserve the credit they have earned. If you don't know them, how can you speak on their behalf? The only embarrassment I see here is 1. Roger, 2. Your attempt to stir the pot again and act above it all, and then "speaking up for them". yourself  What a hypocrit...

Sorry for the side track Dawna, hope the thread stays on track from now on :(

Diesel Power Mag

Can we all just get along?

Anyway, i just entered this F-550 in the Diesel Power Magazine Truck Challenge via mail. I sent a couple pics of it, {pre-Cummins install} to get their mouths watering! :-laf ... So maybe Autoworld will become REALLY famous if we get chosen to compete in the challenge. It includes a Drag Race,Sled Pull,Dyno event, and Trailer Towing match. Oo. Wish it luck!Thank God for the Banks intercooler or else we would have no luck LOL :-laf

That will be a great boost for all involved in the truck. It will be great to see Kenny's name go even further in the diesel community. I was really hoping autoworld would get a chance to step into the spotlight for a while, looks like you're definitely the one to help with that. So far, the only thing most folks I talk to about Montana know about is Yellowstone, Fly fishing, hunting, and Ted Turner's ranch. It will nice to see Kenny added to that list :D The environmentalists will blow a vein when they hear about a diesel hot rod shop in God's country :-laf

Congrats on a great rig, hope you have many years of enjoyment with it. I know you'll be elated with Kenny's work on it. I miss his attention to detail, few pride themselves on that anymore.

(he had me pressure wash a truck outside in the middle of the winter before the customer picked it up, that really bestowed in me a lasting impression and sense of pride in what they did to go the extra mile. I regret nothing while working with them ;)

How much did all this cost and how much time did it take? Is any ford worth all this effort? No one ever hears of putting a powerjoke on a Dodge.

That's because a dodge is not worth anything without the cummins in it :-laf

Don't mean to Hijack, but Rick just called and said the Packbrake arrived with the wrong switch. I am going to call in if they are open Monday (if not then Tuesday) and get you guys the right switch.

okay!! it never fails, no wiring for the fuel system, no directions... . lol why not this... .

dawna

as far as ricks cost, i suspect we would be well into $20K with everything he added and brought (turbo, injectors, edge, usgear, pacbrake, carpet, guages) then labor, parts, motor and transmission we supplied (before selling the takeouts which isn't turning out to be very easy... ) but this truck is set up for his business so the purpose of this is important to him and well worth it.

it is going to be one awesome work truck :D

well, we have always been chevy people, but as far as this F550 goes, its basic construction is very heavy duty... the transfer case is a monster - its gonna be one heck of a truck, ken's even thinking about buying one (super duty) and repowering it, ewwww-i want a 97-98 crew cab chev myself... .
