I have to say the information here is well worth the $35!

I'm sure it's been asked about 500 times over, but I can't really seem to find much data about actual over the road, empty mileage for the truck I'm thinking of, so I thought a poll might be of use. Trouble is I don't know how to actually post a poll, and would prefer to look stupid by asking than just screw it all up and remove all doubt.

Basically wanting to know what if unloaded hwy mileage is 15-16, 16-17, 17-18, or 18+ (I'm guessing that's wishful thinking), and with which gears. Can you help me post a poll?

Hmm... that's not what I wanted to hear (betting not what you wanted to see either). Do you mind if I ask what you get in your '06? It has similar mods to my 04. 5 and I'm thinking I can get some comparison on driving style. What gears do you have?

I'm up to 9K on mine now and average 15 -16 combined driving under normal conditions.

I have the 6. 7 and 68re and 3. 73 gears.

A little over 11,000 miles on it and my best empty has been 18. 5 hand calc. and towing 6500 I got 16 both times speed has been over 60 plus and I have 410's

Just completed a 300 mile run and averaged 16. 3 hand calculated. That was empty, but a curvy highway where 60 MPH was about as fast as you could safely go. My overhead seems to be very close to hand calc most of the time. At 70 MPH it seems like 15. 5 to 16 is about right.

4X4 68 RFE fuel Mileage Poll

At 15,000+ on a 2007 6. 7 68RFE I'm getting 16MPG at 70 miles per hour(MPH) and 17MPG+ at 65 MPH. My mileage has been steadily climbing with the miles driven and I expect to get 18+ MPG after 20,000 miles.

My latest flash is the "AV" along with the "G-30" recall. Maybe it will improve after the "AW" flash.

My "fuel in the oil" has also improved with mileage increase along with the

EGT's decreasing to a manageable level of 1200-1300.

No major problems yet but who knows?

The combined mileages are making me feel a little better. Thanks for the responses. If you have more, please post up, the more info the better!

My 06 with 4:10 I was getting 15MPG 55Kmiles

My 07. 5 with 68RFE, dpf delet, AFE Intake and 18K miles is running 18 on the long trips.

Stop and go, both 15MPG

Hope this helps

The tire size has been reprogrammed at the dealer. It's right on with most radar equipment and GPS.

I have around 2,000 miles of towing accumulated so far; I managed a little over 12. 5 mpg hauling this 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 from KY to Port Huron, MI on my 1850 lb 2007 GatorMade 16+2 car hauler. I got 14. 9 or so dragging the empty trailer back..... all hand calculated.

I bit the bullet (hopefully I won't want to load in a gun and shoot myself with it) and traded my 04. 5 for an 08. Only drove it home from the dealer. Overhead came up from 11 to 15. 9 on the trip. I know they aren't accurate, but I hope it's close. Only 91 miles on it so far, and the tires were underinflated (surprise!).

I was wondering how much the exhaust brake might be hampering some's mileage? I was thinking of this and how much folks seem to use them, and that they weren't on the older trucks. I played with it some and it kills a lot of momentum, which isn a 7000+ rig takes energy to get back.

2000 miles on mine. 14. 5 around town and going to the barn, idling, back to the house, etc. I use the exhaust brake all the time, the brakes should last 250k.

Very poor in town short trips 10. 8 to 12. 5 hand calc... ... . ran empty to ski in UT, 17. 5. 18. 5 and 19. 5 tanks going 70-85... . only 5k on the cock... . hope it gets better... ... 08 4x4 qc sb at ... ... .

My new 07. 5 Mega Automatic is at 2500Km. It started at 14 MPG by the overhead and is now around 9. 5 MPG. Mainly town driven until the temps clime above freezing.

Getting great millage for the last two weeks. It has been -40 and colder so I don't have a prayer of starting the Darn thing!

The dealer assures me the millage will improve ... but I dunno... ...
Might be time for an edge box and a D@#$$#F remove?
