'08 SRW, 4x4, 68RFE fuel mileage poll

16. 5 by hand, 16. 9 overhead 250 mile trip through the Vermont mountains carrying a moderate load. (about 800 lbs. )
Most of the time cruise set at 68 MPH. I only have about 4500 Miles on the truck, (ordered 10/07, picked up 12/07)
It turns out my milage is about 3 - 3. 5 less then when my 2003 (2500 SO Quad Cab with 47re and 3. 73s) was new. So I am happy so far with the milage, If i remember correctly the 03 5. 9 SO model was 234 hp. So I have now 116 hp more and different gear ratio, and my milage has only dropped 3 - 3. 5 on the highway and about the same around town. I am seeing 13 - 14. 5 around town now.

If you look at the many posts over several threads it seems that your numbers are fairly typical. I think those that are posting much higher numbers have a problem with their calculator. Those with lower numbers probably have some kind of problem with their engine. The exception being trucks driven a mostly around town with a high percentage of idling, or guys that like to use the power of the CTD. :-laf It's hard not to stomp on the throttle, but 300 plus horsepower consume a lot of fuel rapidly propelling a four ton truck up the road.

13. 8 average over 9,000 miles (Hand calc. ) with a combo of towing (25%), high altitudes (5000' msl to 10,000' msl+), daily commute (40 miles per day at legal freeway speeds), monthly off road use (about 70 miles per month chasing Hot Air Balloons). I have seen 19 on 500 mile trips and 10 on daily commutes (all hand calc).

i dont know how some of you are getting 14, 16, or 18 mpg on this 6. 7. i was getting 1 to 2 less when i had my dpf on the truck. at 16,000 on the dash i still only get around 12mpg

mpg on '08 6.7L

I have about 4300 miles on mine. I have mpg figures so far on about 3000 of those miles which include all types of driving. My mpg for that is 17. 2 hand calculated. The overhead reads about 2. 5 mpg higher so I won't be paying attention to that. Does anyone know if it can be adjusted somehow to match or come close to hand calculation?

My 07. 5 managed 17. 8 mpg on the first full tank when I drove it just over 500 miles back in September (warm day, straight #2 BP Amoco diesel). Now with 7800 miles and every tank hand calculated & mixed driving, stop & go, the average is right at 16 mpg. A brief warmup in temps in January to 50+ degrees F seemed to make the overhead mileage meter climb a lot higher, but will continue to hand calculate. I expect the summer blend fuels, warmer temps, & higher miles will have a positive impact on the economy based on what I have seen. The overhead even reached 25 mpg reading when the ambient warmed up, but has never peaked like that since the temps dropped back down.

The truck has run perfect ever since I bought it, did the O2 sensor recall with a couple of flashes.

This is interesting to say the least. I did buy an '08. First tank wasn't good. Showed 16. 2, got 14. 5. But I don't know how full it was when I got it from the dealer. Very possible I squeezed in more than they did and it skewed the readings some (it also wasn't empty only took about 14. 5 gallons so a 1 gallon difference would be big).



On the other hand, I did notice that my mileage in my '04. 5 dropped more than normal this year too. I did a long trip in it before I traded and got horrible mileage for me of about 15. 5 (normally knock down 18 or 19 on the same run). If it's a fuel thing it makes this truck look not so bad.



I have very few miles on it, still getting used to the throttle and all, but sure hope it gets somewhat better (at least it's a nicer truck than my old one in terms of amentities).

2008 6.7l 68RFE mileage

I now have figures for 3701 miles of all kinds of driving, no towing. I have used 208 gallons of fuel for an overall mileage figure of 17. 8 mpg hand calculated. Lowest individual tank figured out at 15. 5 mpg, the highest at 18. 6 mpg. There were 12 fillups. Only 4 fills of the 12 were under 17 mpg and only 2 fills under 16 mpg. I'm feeling pretty good about this truck. Not as good as my former 2001 but I didn't expect that.

With 4000 miles on the truck, I'm getting 13 cumulative average... hand calc'd... actually Windows XP/Office2003 Excel calc's it for me. Overhead is always within . 7 of being correct (always optimistic) That includes some plowing, idling around town, 30 mile trips to the ice rink on the 4 lane... some cold weather down in the single digits.

Moving to the diesel from a 10 mpg V10, I'm happy.

I just bought my 08 2500 6. 7 laramie mega cab, 6-speed automatic, 3. 73 gears and i've been getting around 16 to 17 mpg combined between highway and city, I'm really happy so far with only 500 miles on it. Especially since i was only getting about 10. 4 mpg on my 04 2500 QC overall.

11,000 miles. Best I have seen is 16. 8 on the hwy unloaded, hand calc. Worst is around 10. 5 for around town driving. 75% of my miles are around town so I seem to average around 12mpg.

Just approaching 14,000 miles, city/highway mixed = 16 mpg, just crossed to over 18 mpg hand calculated on a highway trip. It's been climbing for the last 2k miles.

I picked up my 08 2500 w/22 mi. on it in Bristow, OK, filled it and drove to Wichita, KS at 75 on cruise. Got 18. 3. I hooked on my 26' Prowler toyhauler and drove 65 and 75 from there to San Jose, CA, Averaged 7. 8. I drove from San Jose to Freson and back (278 mi)

at 65 on cruise and empty. Got 22. 3. Set the cruise for 75 on the return. Averaged 19. 3 for the round trip. I love this thing!



Oh, I have about 2400 mi on the odometer.

Just returned from NM with 40' 5er. 7. 89 MPG hand cal on trip down in headwind, 8. 8 MPG return trip w/no wind. Tried to maintain 65-70 MPH both ways. Sidenote: That 6. 7 pulled like a freight train up Raton pass!! 4th gear @2300 RPM and I don't think ANYTHING could slow her down!! Exhaust brake coupled with 6 speed auto is awsome in mountain driving!

Brand new of the lot with 19 miles showing on the OD. Now have 400 miles on OD - half highway and half town and overhead showing 14. 2 mpg. All empty.



I have loaded 600 lbs. in the bed and will travel 750 miles this weekend.
