Stock 6 speed clutch sucks, south bend shoud get the supply contract for dodge on that one. Factory stereo pretty much sucks, i never use it anymore since the addition of the B1

edit: oh yeah dodge are you listening? the absolutely most worthless things you dummys are doing is giving me those worthless quad cab doors. I want 4 big ones, real doors, can you say "CREW CAB" YOU GUYS ARE STINKING IDIOTS IF YOU THINK THE MARKET ISN'T THERE.

I was going to say nothing, but, I would have to vote for the warrenty, dodge mechanic, and DC which is related to the warrenty issue.

I had alot of frustration with my truck when new but since I (thanks to Marco) fixed the one $23. 00 problem it has been great.

uselessness

I love my Dodge. Phord or Chebby don't make a truck worthy of the Cummins!

Therefore, the most useless thing I see in my Dodge is the Phord or Chebby in my rearview mirror!

Really?

As much as everybody likes to bash Dodge, and I have many personal reasons to Hate Daimler, I think that Dodge has done a lot to make the truck much better:

Brakes: My factory 4-wheel discs are great!

Headlights: Sport package lights are great!

Tires: Michelin 265/75/16's are fine, a little small in diameter for the wheel wells though

Steering: so far OK, expecting to have to do maintainance to keep it that way

Stereo: good enough to hear over the Cummins

Transmission: Good enough for factory power, a very strong trans that can take double or triple factory horsepower with appropriate [sp?]modifications [auto]

What are my pet peeves?

The lift pump: bad design location, first one went at 14. 5K, I am adding a pusher pump soon

Brittle Paint: I had to resort to spraying my rockers and fender lips with bed liner material to keep from having to repaint due to stone chips [even with mud flaps]

Lack of Cab Sound Insulation: I like to hear the Cummins, but not as if I had my head under the hood. Fixed this problem [to a great extent] by myself

Jacked up chassis height: This should be a factory option, not standard. I never plan on needing the ground clearance my truck has, but had to add steps to get my elderly parents into and out of the cab.

Lack of true Crew Cab. Not that I want or need one, but Dodge is missing a big market by not having one available.

That's all I can think of for now, all in all the Dodge is still the best on the market. IMHO

16. Stock horns

17. The resonator

18. Stock bumper

19. non-molding protected box

20. The paint job - that should be chip job

But if they made the perfect truck we would still have to alter everything to use up all the bombing time... so give us a great engine, a good base truck then stay outta the way cause its bombs away. Oo.

Can't believe no one mentioned that POS horn, sounds like a little honda, not a truck. Sounds so embarrasing I hardly use it , then again in Miami you gotta be careful with the horn blowing:p

Haven't seen anyone mention that stupid little plastic bottle on the front of the engine that sprays oil all over everything!

My next set of tires were more expensive BigOs and they wore out in 14,000miles. I rotated those puppies every 2,000 miles and it didn't help a lick. :{ (there went $680 down the drain)#@$%! I should have ordered the cheap wheels and tires and bought aftermarket one's right off the batt (would have been cheaper in the long run) :rolleyes: In my opinion Dodge can keep their junk 6. 5" rims, but I like the new alum. rims and they're 8" wide. :) The damn things are still a pain in my backside because they take up room in my pole barn. :{

Not trying to be a jerk but the BFG website recommends a rim width of 7. 5 - 9. 0 inches for the 285/75R16 AT. I'm assuming this is the recommended range from all tire manufacturers. Doesn't sound like Dodge is to blame for the short life of your tires.

We've run 255/85R16 on both the '96 trucks and gotten well over 40k out of each set of tires mounted on the chrome 6. 5" rims.

I know the tires were too wide

My point is why would they put the 6. 5" rims on the truck in the first place. The rims are fine for a small diameter tire but I like to fill up the wheel wells with something else besides mud. ;) The tire shops also could not balance the rims because they had so much run out in them. ;) It is a real pain in the back side to be driving a 30K truck that bounces like it has Tarus Radial Tractor tires on it when you are running about 40mph. I was told that I could at leased get 40K out of the 285s if I kept them rotated:rolleyes: I should have known better than to listen to the guy selling me the tires. :( What I'm saying is Dodge should have put a little more thought into the wheels on the truck, which they did in 2000 modle year but that was a year to late for me. All the other truck makers in 99 were using 8" rims but Dodge had to be diffrent. :) (I made a funny)

Don't get me wrong I love my truck, and I can't blame the hole tire ware thing on Dodge alone but the balancing problem was their fault. I know that because a good freind of mine has a 96 and his rims were the same way. (always had a little bounce to them when decelerating) I don't know if we both had a bad set or what but it was a pain for the 2 years I had to deal with it.

The Cat

The catalytic converter ... what a waste of metal. Mine is just taking up space in the basement:D

Also the trackbar and steering box. :(

Whew AZCUMMINS,

You really need to design and manufacture your own truck.

That square hole in my dash is about the only thing I would list. It does work fine for holding my small calculator though. :D
