I purchased a used 2003 last june to pull a 5th wheel trailer. Also got a used trailer both for about 55k $. When I picked up the trailer (flint, mich) {i live in chicago area} found out the lift pump was very weak [no power]. Took the truck to dodge dealer and they put in the tank pump fix. I have put in 3 fuel filters already (latest one yesterday) so the truck would run. We are supposed to take a trip to florida in couple weeks so will find out if all this money was worth it. This has been an expensive learning experience (now being retired and on fixed income) and seems the fuel going to settle out about 4 a gallon for a while so time will tell. The truck seems to be a lot like a boat, something you can enjoy but you have to trow a lot of money at to keep them working ? ?

Thanks

Sorry I'm not much of a writer. .

If i knew then what i know now... ... I would have listened to my Dad and not fixed what's not broke.
To leave or not to leave well enough alone, that is the question my dear cummins.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have...

I would have Gotten rid of the X-wife sooner and kept my First Cummins.

Sure miss that truck!

Well, to do it over again...

When ordering my new truck, I'd of gone with the manual transfer case, put leather seat covers on myself, got the base model stereo and upgraded it myself, went with a PacBrake instead of having the dealer install a Jacobs, and saved a lot of money! For some reason I thought that because it was like that from the factory, it would be as good as it gets... and now I wish I'd done it different!

I would not have left the Dealer's Service Dept. tear my dash out the first time to do the TSB to fix the broken HVAC door, yet alone the 3 additional times if I knew it would break again & again & again and is broke again.

I would have pulled the fuel relay out of my 04. 5 before it was stolen last year, Or at least emptied it.

If I only knew ....

If I only knew then, what I know now I would be in much better shape and still have my life in California. I miss my people and would give anything to go home, yes even my beautiful 1-Ton.

Peace.

. . . would've kept the '91 4WD Colorado Red CTD. A sister truck looked good on the cover of the TDR . . . . and ours looked good in the drive.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have...

Never messed around with "customizing" the truck (other than adding a fifth-wheel hitch, it did everything I needed it to do right off the show room floor)(buying a new Dodge CTD Pick-up is like an artist buying a blank canvas), never joined TDR and became addicted to adding all the after market accessories etc. This would have made me much more of a sane person today than I am. My only limitations to more gadgets for my truck is my wife's income... :-laf

where do i start... converting to a FASS before 4 other types of fuel pumps... looking at the block before i bought it (i have a 53)... knowing i would have all kinds of steering problems and put a totally different steering system on it before spending thousands in repairs... i could go on i am sure! but when it is right, i love my truck!!

... I wouldn't have started building another project because I just want to keep putting money into my 95. Oh well. I will have plenty of fun with the '83 Chevy with the Cummins in it when its done. :-laf

I would have done the front hub maintenance much sooner than 130,000 miles if I had known just how much heating and pounding I had to do to get them loose.

Now, to mention that I almost broke my left hand with the 4lb hammer as I missed the swing and had to go in the house to lie down as I almost passed out from shock. :D

If I knew then what I know now I would've taken my truck to a certified diesel mechanic for major repairs instead of trying to do them myself; which usually ends up costing me more money and headaches. I'm just now admitting to myself that I dont know it all and just take it to somebody that does to get the job done right the first time.

Ah, The curse of Fossil Fuel addiction... "If I knew then, what I know now, I would have figured out a way to been born 30 years sooner. "
