Getting timing advanced

Have you dealt with the KDP yet. I had a shop do the dowl, front main seal, and adjust the timing at the same time.

By rockers, do you mean valve train?

Some of this stuff is pretty easy to do yourself with the vast information and instruction on this site. The money you save from not paying someone else to do it will easily pay for a manual and the tools it requires.

-Checking valve clearances is easy to do (do a search and you'll find some great instructions)

-Changing trans fluid and filter is also easy to do and again you'll find plenty of how toos on here. Pull the pan, spill the fluid, change the filter, put it back together and filler up. I've never done an auto on one of our trucks but have done plenty of 727s in others.

-Pump timing although I've paid shops twice to do this I really wish I would have spent the money on a kit and done it myself. I'll be doing just that in the near future. It's a little more involved, the last issue of the TDR has some great instructions from Joe Donnely. Figure on a couple hundred bucks to have a shop do this (depending on the shop).

-Pump tuning is wide open, lots of bucks to pull the pump and have it put on a bench. Unless you're having problems, high miles (220k is not high) or burned up all your other options for fueling and need to do this to squeeze out some more then save your money for other mods :)

- I've done a few hubs myself and while they can be stubborn to remove it doesn't require much other than a drive way and some tools. If you can change the hub you already have all the parts off for doing your own brakes. Plan to spend big $$ to have someone else do this. I paid around $350 for the hub assembly (can't avoid this cost).

I'd suggest calling around and getting some price quotes on the above work. Then do some searches and reading on here and see if any of it is something you want to do yourself.
