The BFG literature recommends 8. 5-10", but I'm gonna test fit a set - tire man thinks this should not be a problem. Let you know when they get here.

with the 315/75/16 tires, 8" is ok. it is the slightly lower profile that makes it want a 8. 5", but i wouldn't worry about a 1/2" wheel width with such a tall tire as the 315/70/17 is

On my 2500 I ran 35" Swampers (recommended wheel width was 8. 5-10") on the factory 16x8 wheels with NO problems what so ever... ... The 35/12. 50R16 is the equivalent of a 315/75R16...

Anyone have a set of 35x12. 5r17 BFG M/T's on stock 8" rims? Any problems? Was told by les schwab today that I only had 7" rims... funny my window sticker shows 17x8's... .

I had 285/75r16's Wild Country TXR's on my 97... I really liked them... Not much for TXR's in 17" so far.

Hello guys,

I thought i would add a little info to this thread. The BFG 315/70/17 ATKO (orig equip tire on the Hummer H2) will fit fine on the stock 8" wheel. Lots of people are running them on there 03 4X4"s with no rubbing. Some add a 2 inch spacer to ballance out the look. There height will give you an apx 10% rpm reduction. and the best news is that you can order them from www.tirerack.com for apx $125 + 10-20 $ shipping depending on where you live.

A great way to make your truck look like it should:D

Best regards

Question I have is when is anyone other than Goodyear going to make the 235/80/17 for the dually? They are hard to find in my part of the country.

Well, here's some good news;

The tire dealer showed me a bulleting they received from BFG, that announces the all terrain's will soon be released in 285/75-17's.

Are you sure they are 75 series? I wish they would come out with 75 series in 17" as they would be a little taller.

yea I got the same story here locally. they already have a 70 series, so this announcement is significant. Also a 195 is coming too.

I need to keep my 65mph towing rpms reasonable. 285/70 is about right (1900).

I work at an S&S Tire in Lexington, KY. Our group of warehouses and retail stores are one of Bridgestone/Firestones biggest customers. Our sales rep has informed me that Bridgestone will have their A/T REVO's out later this fall in LT265/70R17 and LT285/70R17 sizes, I'm sure in at least 8 to 10 ply ratings. I had the LT285/75R16 A/T REVO's on my '00 RAM 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 and loved them. Unfortunately, they were only on the truck about 6,000 miles before I bought my '03. :{

Can't wait to get rid of the BFG's on my truck and get more A/T REVO's ... The Bridgestone rep said he'd get me a set ASAP as they came available.

Check out Cooper Discover tires. Got JD Powers top rating and they are only around $110 per tire out the door. Plus it's an American Company.
