Trucks! on SpikeTV

keep up the great work. Even my wife is watching how the truck turns out, you've got a bunch of fan club/stalkers out here watching your every move...

Cool! I just finished up welding and beefing up a new engine stand so that I can pull that 93 motor and set her off to the side. I had planned taking the trans out today, but my daughters brought her car over this morning as it needed some troubleshooting on her power windows... . and then I checked her oil... NOTHING! Put four quarts in a 5 quart system! So she got the lecture... . :-laf

;)

What a job! I'm done for the most part with the pump assembly...

This brownish orange (not the rust) goo is a sample of why my rack was stuck... It looked like glue, but I guess it was just gelled diesel fuel. I think if I would have ran this pump in this condition, I think that I would have been asking for problems... .

One of the worst...

#ad

This was the best one... .

#ad

Cleaned barrel assembly's

#ad

Barrels back in...

#ad

I used the 131 DV's with the 181 holders. .

#ad

Almost finished...

#ad

Ballistic Fabrication pieces came in today... that just about completes all the needed items for my four link coilover front.

#ad

Oo.

OK... got pump up to Santa Rosa Diesel Injection today, so hope that goes well.

And when I returned home... I had my Hamilton 4130 pushrods waiting on my door step.

#ad

#ad

Oo.

I had a little direction change this weekend with the threat of rain... so I decided to get my main studs and HD rod bolts installed... .

Those mains were a bit time consuming as I had to take extra care in controling the metal chips from bottom taping the holes!

OK... got the cam gears swapped around and modified the key to fit. The marine cams use about half a keyway and I cut this one so that the retainer would actually seat against it by about . 005" - . 007". Torqued retaining bolt to 42 ft/lbs + 90 degrees.

I decided that I don't want to stack Advanced Adapter spacers (1. 650") to couple a Ford NP205 (with Dodge gears) to my NV4500. Going this route would net me 3. 300" leaving me . 575" short... . and I would have to cut . 290" off each side of the 29 spline output / input shafts.

The idea that I like better is just adapt the texas bolt pattern Dodge adapter to a NP205 driver drop case.

This way I will not be cutting anything but the adapter (yellow line in pic) and welding the small hole created by the cut.

I will use this divorced case and turn it into a married setup... this will give me some options to help support the weight. Then strip my Dodge passenger drop case and install the gear set into the below Ford NP205 case.

Pulled the tail housing off my trans..... found that it has an updated 5th gear nut  And a new 5th gear... . and a new reverse gear :(

What really amazes me is that the reverse idler is chipped and nobody replaced that

You can see that the main shaft has the typical wear in the area adjacent to the splines. So now my debate is to leave the mainshaft as is and tighten the crap out of a new updated 5th gear nut, get a full blown Torque King shaft (really not in my budget) or give one of the other full splined shafts a try...

Kinda funny how these things grow! And to think that this was just going to be a simple motor conversion... :-laf

Instead I have this... . when I could have been fishing!

;)

Wasn't quite sure how I was going to go abot mounting the Dodge clutch master cylinder on the firewall...

It looks like the stroke is about 1. 500" and certainly not more than 2. 000" max.

This is what I have come up with so far... .

Made this mount plate... fits the cylinder tight.

#ad

Cylinder attached...

#ad

Hole through the fire wall is 45 degrees rotated... . so that cylinder can not turn on the mounting plate and come loose.

#ad

#ad

Look from the inside... .

#ad

So what do you all think... will it work?????

Well, I think..... that I don't like this twist lock design.

Looking for a little more strength... .

I found that I can add another plate about 3/16th of an inch behind the first plate that I made. Cool thing is that is within a 32nd of what my fire wall thickness is with the line-x... ...

You can see the diameter that has the webing... this is my target area.

#ad

This is the plate that I made to fit... . it is cut to fit the webing and get down to the OD for support and it is not quite finished yet as you can see that one half is a little different than the other...

#ad

Here is the fit..... kinda hard to see.

#ad

These two plates will now sandwich the firewall... . the webing solves my problem of the MC rotating.

#ad

#ad

Next I will look at adding a strut to the column or other solid area... .

Looks good to me!

I like many others here on this board and continually impressed with your fabrication skills. I'll trade you my mega cab when you finish it up:)

Was going to drop the short block in today, but decided that now would be a good time to get the coilover hoops in place!

A couple of issues did come up...

Clearance for the steering box... . I will cut that tab off and use a . 500" spacer. That should give me enough room.

#ad

Deciding how I want to do this... .

#ad

Results... .

Besides the steering box clearance... . the other issue is whether or not these hoops will interfere with my twins?
