I have a 1991. 5 with a Dana 70, pinion bearing is going out so I parked it.
I need to buy a bearing kit When looking on-line a few companies list many different Dana 70 models; Dana 70 B , Dana 70 U and Dana 70 HD.
They also list them with 23,32 or 35 splines on the axles. I have't pulled the axles out yet to see the splines. Does anyone know about the different models or splines?

Call Randy's Ring and Pinion. They told me that my rear out of a 90 was a 70U, but I couldn't tell you the spline count. I think its 32, but don't take that as a definite.

There should be a tag on the diff housing between 2 bolts that has a series of numbers on it. One is the ratio (3. 08, 3. 54, 4. 10, with LS after it if applicable) and another is a 6 digit number which is the Bill of Materials (605512 for my mom's 92 dually). I'm not sure what the 3rd number is. The BOM should give you the right listing for your axle. That is provided the tag is still there... .

The BOM should also be on one of the axle tubes, the drivers side if I am not mistaken.

I recently started a 92 Dodge/Cummins Dana 70 PowRLok project myself. Quad 4x4 has real good info and good pricing from what I have seen in my research.
