I have a 1995 - 4x4 3500, and I'v searched all the good books and I can't find a good answer on how to get more power out of the engine, except install a new filter and exhaust system ? I'm just looking for enough power to get me over these hills in Arizona, pulling a 28' 5-wheel, also I want to stay away from an timing changes (law violation)!!!!

thank you- gbrown

All the 12 valve go fast mods mentioned in the 12 valve engine forum work on a '95. Any go fast mods are a law violation if anyone checks which they don't as far as I know. I got stopped for speeding once and no remarks about mods or anything. I managed to smoke up the CHP car pretty good while it was behind me. The blue lights were dimmed a bit by the smoke. He didn't even mention that.

oh theres plenty to do to you truck, you can chage your timing but not by much, anything over 1. 5 deg. of timing on a stock headgasjet can be detrimental. by advaincing your timing you will get a slight increase in fue mileage, a little bit more top end power, your bottom end power might suffer jut a bit, the higher your timing is the less power you maek down low in the RPM range, and the more you maek in the upper RPM range. you can add a fuel plate, and a st of 3k springs in the injection pump, that alone will wake up your truck, along with a good CAI, and exhaust, anymore than that and you will be needing to upgrade your drive line.

I really doubt that a cop or inspection station has a way to check to see what the timing is on a 12 valve anyway. It's not some sort of hook up a timing light and see what it is. More like $300 at a Cummins or Bosch shop to check it. Same sort of thing with most 12 valve mods. The crazy thing is mechanical so a scan tool won't work Gotta get tools and take things apart. Then they have to have some knowledge about what they are looking at.

See my signature below to see what I have done to mine. The TST # 6 plate and 215 injectors work great. I do have guages and have never exceeded the temp limitations. I do pull a 26 ft travel trailer with a slide out and have gone over long hard pulls at 65 mph in fourth gear overdrive with the torgue converter locked up and no problems. If you go with this I would recomend guages (EGT and Manifold pressure). Your stock auto matic will hold up to this for awhile but you should start saving for an up-graded auto trans. There are a lot of them out there and they are all good. I like what I have and it still works as good as they day they installed it. 100 thousand miles pluss on it.

Good luck and enjoy your 12 valve. They are awesome. I rolled over 205,000 on mine yesterday.
