My son has a 1997 with about 325k on the odometer. His factory key and extra will not turn back into the acc position when he uses either one. Anyone have input or first hand experience: Does the key typically wear out first? Or do the tumblers in the ignition switch wear out quicker. suggestions or ideas appreciated
 
Probably the ignition lock, i had to change mine at 200K in my GC (same ign lock). It was worn out so badly I could pull the key in any position. Same with the key itself.
So I bought a kit from Dorman? that i was able to program for the existing spare key.
I don't like to have more then one key for a vehicle, means ign different then door.
