2-1/2”to 2” receiver adapter

Just noticed mine is getting elongated (the holes the pin goes through) this is the OEM one that came with the truck .

The hitch that’s on the truck is only showing slight wear on the pin holes.

I’m aware I could just get a 2-1/2” shank but that’s not available for my current WD hitch

Welding the adapter on the shank would help but then that creates a new possible problem

If your tv breaks down and your rescue tv doesn’t have a 2-1/2” that’s the problem as with getting another 2-1/2”shanked WD hitch

I’ve looked in the past for a better stronger adapter unsuccessfully.

Any ideas?

Tolerance stacking is what kills these hitches and adapters. You can buy the best quality pieces but as you start and stop while towing, it elongates the holes. They sell some shims and anti-rattle clamps that should help. I wore one so bad I bored it out to 3/4" and use a large pin.

We just bought a bumper pull trailer and the sloppy fit of the new hitch is two fold. The adapter is very loose in the 2.5 inch receiver and the hitch is sloppy inside the adapter.

Anyone find one that fits tighter?

I've got a really nice Curt 2.5" hitch, and it is still loose in the factory Ram receiver. I've been looking at some of those anti-slop devices, but it seems like it would make it a real pain to remove the hitch.
