I am wondering the same thing, it is all the way up to 3. 10 here in Temecula, just in the last couple of weeks!! what the heck!

China.

You folks keep buying crap at walmart and keeping the chinese industry churning hard and growing fast.

Diesel powers most growing and churning industrial machines.

China needs diesel to develop into the GIANT that may very well devour us. Supply and Demand.

Okay--now boot us to the political pages. But I did read a version of that in the TDR magazine. :D

Don't forget the new low sulfer fuel for 2007 must be for sale sometime in 2006 and the refineries must sell all old stock in the storage tanks and clear out the current fuel from the pipe lines so not too much of a old/new mix in the pipe lines simple ha? and also switch the refineries too make the low sulfer fuel. I feel for you guy's out west here I only pay 2. 40 a gallon and make my company pay for it so it's really free for me. :-laf also don't forget as the year drags on heating oil will need to be refined and that will mean higher prices also. If you think this is bad you ain't seen nothing yet just wait till 2009 when we do the old/new mix thing again for the 2010 standards. Got to love the EPA and the tree huggers and their lobby's in washington D. C. :--)

I read in the Lost Angeles Times today that they claim the reason for the surge in diesel prices is two fold. First off they claim that there was a surplus of diesel in California in June and therefore oil brokers sold off the excess to foreign countries (Mexico and South American Countries). Then Chevron experienced the all too common refinery fire on July 20th and now we have a shortage. The story claimed that Chevron should have their refinery back in service in a week or so. What will be be paying by then?

I don't understand this logic. So if we all bought American and American industry started to surge wouldn't it need the same diesel to keep the American industry growing?

Oil companies have a average income chart as one of their calc numbers. Hi traffic/Lo traffic sale districts, and of course state tax varies greatly. ASIDE from the fact that consumers have burned up half of all world oil reserves. Here's where YOU come in. Call your favorite auto dealer and tell them you wana buy a new car like one of those VW Diesel cars that get over 50 mpg. When they tell you they don't sell them, verbaly abuse the sales man for MAKING you go to the VW store. Unfortunately, VW has nearly eliminated the TDI Diesel for US sales in 06 due to the week $ and other cosiderations. Can some one please tell me Why you can buy a 3 cylinder Diesel VW Lupo in Europe that gets a solid 70mpg but they can't import them here because they don't meet US safety standards. BUT,,,, if you want to kill your self on a Motorcycle, THAT my friend, is perfectly AOK !!!

China's industry isn't as developed as our's, but they are rapidly catching up. They are becoming a major consumer of oil in the process. One way to slow them down is to stop buying their crapola.

On the other hand, our industry is well established. While more businesss would result in an increase of diesel consumption it would not be as significant.

But this still does not fully explain the big price surge in diesel.

Just my $. 02 take on this...

Right on Walt-L! You hit the nail on the head. It seems ironic that our domestic car industry won't offer a fuel-efficient diesel vehicle like the VDub TDI, and yet I read there is a provision in Bush’s new energy bill that provides a tax credit towards the purchase of "clean-burning diesel cars" starting in January/06. If the American consumer had wanted fuel-efficient diesel passenger cars in years past, there'd be an offering today to satisfy the market demand. But now that the "crude has hit the fan" with energy prices and we're in trouble, Chevy/Ford/and Chrysler are not in a position to offer one. I'll go ask the car dealer today if they can sell me a thrifty clean-burning diesel passenger car and see what their response is. Should be fun!

Its sorta like being a New Yorker with Hilary as your Senator, Knowing THE ONLY THING I CAN DO... ... ... . is move!!!!!!!

Makes me not want to come home :{ . I'm enjoying the prices her in the Northwest anybody know how bad I'm going to get on I-5 through central Calif?

Mac

I just paid $2. 97 in Fairfield two days ago. $92 to fill up my tank. Another thing that bothers me is the stupid fuel stations only allow you to put $50 on your card when you pay at the pump. And some stations will not allow you to double swipe your card. Diesel is one of the easiest fuels to refine and they are charging more than premium fuel. WTF over?

Thank you for listining to me vent.

Diesel needs slightly less refineing,Yes, but you see its not how much it cost to make, "THEY" charge by the BTU content per leiter and here is where they got us!

We will see if prices fall back.

If you all want to save money on diesel and in the socalif area. I know an arco that sells red at the pump, saves you about 50 cents a gallon. PM for details... The pump is unmanned...

Be carefull and don't get caught, very expensive fine.

Ecominics is how we knock Russia off, and it appears China has learned that lesson from us, and I fear we their long term target. They get Europe as a by-product, but at least over there, their low sulfer diesel is a lot cheaper than Gasolint, but it should be 40% of there new cars, I said cars, or diesels, not just trucks. but there ystem let the diesel have alittle more NOx, because of the super low Carbon emissions. but not ours,

Diesel have to meet car spec on NOx, and we sorry if your Carbon is zero, No Credits Here, as the Greenie say.
