Sorry if these questions have been asked here before, but I did a search of past forum topics and didn't get much.

I'd like to install a 2" leveling kit on my 04 2500 4x4.

Is it necessary to replace the shocks or springs?

How easy an installation is it, can one person do it by themself?

Which kit do I get?

Does it alter the steering or ride in any way?

Is an alignment necessary after the installation?

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

OK Here is what I have found!!! You have to align whether you use springs or spacers. I am leaning towards springs,

1 they are as red as my truck

2 I think red ranchos would look good in my red springs

But you do not have to change the shocks on most kits with spacers

Oo.

There are a number of leveling kits available. Tuff Country is a well known one. Most leveling kits rely on a spacer which bolts on at the top where the coil spring seats. You use your stock spring, and in the case of the 2 inch lift, there is no need to replace shocks. By staying with the stock spring, you maintain a factory ride. You can go with new springs, but it's not necessary, and in the case of a leveling kit, most people don't.

Brand of kit is really a matter of personal preference and availability in your area. Just make sure you get the steel spacer (some offer non metalic spacers). Average price is around $125. Don't forget to factor in a front end alignment; it's a must.

2wd

I asked this question on another post, but never received a reply... . Do you need to do anything special besides a front end alignment to a 2wd???
